Open Web Apps now run as Native Apps on Android, courtesy Firefox of Android

Firefox OS was targeted at the lower end smartphone segment, but it hasn’t really made an impact yet as no phones running on Firefox OS has been launched in India. As Mozilla mentioned, the Firefox OS is based on Open Web Standards and any web app can be wrapped into a Firefox App with just a few lines of code.

Mozilla partners with Intex and Spice to launch affordable Firefox OS devices in India

Mozilla introduced a range of new Firefox OS devices at the MWC 2014 earlier this year and also announced a $25 reference design powered by a Spreadtrum processor. Mozilla announces Firefox OS reference smartphone, tablets from Foxconn and VIA

Mozilla has annonuced new developer reference smartphone and tablets at the Mobile World Congress. These include a 4.5″ dual-core reference phone called Firefox OS Flame, 7-inch VIA Vixen tablet and a 10-inch Foxconn InFocus tablet. It has also announced new Firefox OS PhoneGap mobile application development framework integration, that lets PhoneGap developers to port their existing apps to Firefox OS in a matter of hours. ZTE preps Grand Memo II, Open C for MWC 2014 alongside its MiFavor 2.3 UI

We have less than a week for one of the most anticipated events of the mobile world – MWC 2014 and ZTE, one of the many Chinese manufacturers has revealed its plans for the MWC 2014. According to ZTE, they will be launching the successor of the original Grand Memo smartphone and they will also be launching their Firefox device – ZTE Open C.

Spanish handset maker Geeksphone unveiled their high-end smartphone called Revolution last month. We already know that the phone has a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and Hyper-Threading technology and runs dual OS, Android and Mozilla Open Web technology Boot2Geck. It also lets you change the OS with just a couple clicks. The company has not revealed the Android version yet. Geeksphone Revolution with Intel Atom Z2560 CPU and multi-OS support coming in Q1 2014

Spanish handset maker Geeksphone has finally revealed the specifications of their upcoming high-end smartphone called Revolution. It would feature a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core  Intel Atom Z2560 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and Hyper-Threading technology. Last month the company posted a video showing the performance of an Intel Atom-powered developer device compared with a Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered device, both running on Firefox OS. LG has launched Fireweb, the company’s first smartphone running on Firefox OS for Telefónica in Brazil. This has a 4-inch (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and runs on the latest Firefox 1.1 OS that brings MMS, better Search, performance improvements and more. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash that supports VGA video recording. It has 3G connectivity and packs a 1540 mAh battery. Firefox OS Update (1.1) brings new features, performance improvements and more

Hardly a monthly has passed since the first Firefox OS hit the market and we are already seeing an update being rolled out to those phones. The Firefox developer devices Keon and Peak manufactured by Spanish company GeeksPhone went on sale in April. The ZTE Open was unveiled at the MWC earlier this year. It has a 3.5-inch (480×320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz MSM7225A Snapdragon S1 processor and runs on Firefox OS. ZTE Open first commercial Firefox OS device goes on sale in Spain

Mozilla partnered with several operators worldwide to bring devices running on Firefox OS. The Firefox developer devices Keon and Peak manufactured by Spanish company GeeksPhone went on sale in April. There was a report that thes Firefox phones are expected to launch in 9 countries. Now the Telefónica has launched the ZTE Open in Spain that was unveiled at the MWC 2013. It is now on sale from Movistar stores in Spain priced at 69 Euros (~US$90) (inc. VAT). Foxconn and Mozilla partner to release Firefox OS devices on June 3rd

Mozilla announced the Firefox OS along with phones and operator partners earlier this year at the MWC 2013. The Firefox developer devices Keon and Peak manufactured by Spanish company GeeksPhone went on sale in April. Now the company has announced a press event in partnership with Hon Hai / Foxconn in Taipei next Monday, June 3rd to unveil new devices running on Firefox OS. Firefox Smartphone devices to launch in 9 countries starting from June 2013


Smartphone running on the Firefox OS would start shipping in 9 countries including Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain, and Venezuela, according to a recent report from Business Insider. At AllThingsD’s D: Dive Into Mobile conference, Mozilla CEO Gary Kovacs said that the Firefox OS would launch in five countries, but Mozilla PR confirmed to Business Insider that it would be available in 9 countries starting from June 2013. Sony releases Firefox OS experimental ROM for Xperia E

Sony confirmed that they are working on a Firefox OS device earlier this week. Now they have released a experimental ROM for Xperia E that would let developers try it our and get familiarise with the new OS. The Firefox OS is based on the open web standards that offers every feature in the phone developed as an HTML5 application and the user experience are developed by HTML, CSS and JavaScript. ZTE has announced the ZTE Open with Mozilla Firefox OS. It is just an entry-level smartphone with a 3.5-inch (480×320 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1GHz MSM7225A Snapdragon S1 processor. It has a 3.2MP fixed focus camera and packs a 1200 mAh battery. The Firefox OS has integrated Facebook and Twitter apps,. You can download more apps from the Firefox Marketplace.
