After Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s announcement in the past one week, Reliance Jio has also revised its  tariff plans for prepaid users in India. However, Jio’s plans are still cheaper than Vi and Airtel. The base plan for JioPhone users now start at Rs. 91, a 21.3% hike, and the other plans have seen a hike of about 20%. TRAI proposes zero charges on USSD messages for mobile banking and payment services

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed to remove charges on USSD-based mobile banking and payment services. USSD a.k.a ‘Unstructured Supplementary Service Data,’ referred to as Quick codes act as a platform for mobile phone and computer software of a service provider companies for sending and receiving text messages. Airtel conducts India’s first 5G trial in the 700MHz band with Nokia

Airtel today announced that it has successfully conducted India’s first 5G trial in the 700 MHz band in partnership with Nokia using 5G trial spectrum allocated to Airtel by the Department of Telecom. This comes after the company’s last month announcement that said that it has conducted India’s first 5G network demonstration in a rural geography in Bhaipur Bramanan village on the outskirts of Delhi/NCR. Vi hikes prepaid tariffs after Airtel; plans now start from Rs. 99

After Airtel’s announcement yesterday, Vodafone Idea (VI) has revised its  tariff plans for prepaid users in India. Vi’s plans are almost the same as Airtel, so the the base plan now starts at Rs. 99, a 25% hike and the other plans have seen a hike of about 20%. After revising  its postpaid plans back in July, Airtel today hiked its prepaid plans, which now start from Rs. 99 for a 28-day plan, which is a 25% increase. Vi, Nokia achieve over 100Mbps speed beyond 17km in rural 5G trial

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), in partnership with Nokia, announced that it has successfully conducted 5G trial in rural area in Gandhinagar in Gujarat using 3.5GHz spectrum band allocated by the Government for 5G trials. The company trialed providing 5G connectivity across an area covering 17.1 km while delivering speeds of more than 100Mbps. Vodafone Idea, Ericsson partner to trial 5G use cases in healthcare

As part of the ongoing 5G trials in India, Vodafone Idea said that it has partnered with Ericsson to trial 5G use cases in healthcare sector in remote parts of the country. Vi has been allocated 26 GHz mmWave band by the DoT, along with the traditional 3.5 GHz spectrum band in Pune, for 5G network trials. BSNL has announced the first ever successful test of their indigenously developed 4G cellular network in Chandigarh. Airtel recharge offer: Get Rs. 6000 cashback on purchase of new smartphone

Before Reliance Jio launches its JioPhone Next, Airtel today launched Mera Pehla Smartphone program that will offer Rs. 6000 cashback for users who purchase new smartphones. This will require users to recharge Rs. 249 or above for 36 months, after which they will get full cashback.
