Micromax today launched its flagship Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro smartphones at its Guts to Change event in Gurgaon. The Canvas 6 has a metal unibody design and comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back. Both the phones have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF for quick focus, have 4G LTE support and pack a 3000mAh battery. The Canvas 6 Pro is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 processor.
CREO today launched Mark 1, its flagship smartphone with its custom Android-based Fuel OS at an event, as it had promised. The Fuel OS has important Sense, Echo and Retriever features and also comes with custom notification, lock screen gestures, smart inbox for messages, customizable capacitive touch buttons, smart call forwarding and more. [Update: HTC’s global online communications manager Jeff Gordon says that India will get the Snapdragon 820-powered HTC 10 and not the HTC 10 Lifestyle. The official website has also been updated.]

HTC just announced its flagship HTC 10 smartphone with a 5.2-inch Quad HD 2.5D curved glass display, Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM. But the Indian variant is called the HTC 10 Lifestyle, is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 SoC and 3GB of RAM. Russia is also getting the same variant. It is not clear why HTC is launching a different variant in some markets. Hope this one will be cheaper compared to the Snapdragon 820 version. Uber has slashed uberGO rates by up to 22% in 10 cities – Pune (15%), Ahmedabad (17%), Jodhpur (22%), Udaipur (22%), Ajmer (18%), Indore (9%), Nagpur (9%), Vizag (16%), Mangalore (20%), Trivandrum (18%). Uber had slashed rates of low-cost uberX and its cheapest uberGO service across India last year, later it increased the rates due to service tax changes. Lava International has appointed Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as its new brand ambassador. Idea Cellular has selected Nokia to provide the technology for its 4G LTE rollout in three of its key regional circles – Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. Lenovo has launched PHAB, a 6.98-inch phablet in India, months after launching the high-end PHAB Plus in the country. Huawei has finally launched the Huawei Watch in India, as expected. It was originally announced back in March last year, but it went on sale only in September. It has a 1.4-inch (400 x 400 pixels) circular AMOLED display with 10,000:1 high contrast ratio, scratch-proof sapphire crystal lens and has cold-forged stainless steel frame. Micromax today announced a strategic partnership with TranServ and Visa to offer mobile payment solution for its customers. This new feature will soon be available to Micromax smartphone users through the Udio app, which is a digital wallet enabled by TranServ to create social or merchant payments. It allows consumers to shop using a Visa card number linked to the underlying prepaid wallet, wherever Visa is accepted, thereby making the same money available for both for the online and offline payment.
