OKWU, a new start-up in India has launched Pi, its first smartphone along with an accessory U-Tag. The OKWU Pi has a 5-inch HD display, is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera for capturing sharp images. It has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and also has a fingerprint sensor on the back to unlock the phone in 0.2 seconds and can store up to 10 fingerprints. Airtel has launched 4G LTE services in Sikkim, starting with Gangtok. It isusing dual spectrum bands of 2300 MHz (TD LTE) and 1800 MHz (FD LTE) bands and the company has deployed Carrier Aggregation (4G-Advanced) technology, which promises data speeds of up to 135 Mbps on compatible handsets. Reliance Retail has launched Wind 7i, a cheaper version of Wind 7 that was launched back in August. It has 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE), dual-SIM support, 5-inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 210 processor, similar to the Wind 7, but this has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, compared to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage on the Wind 7. All these have 24/7 activity tracking, Multisport mode, Goal settings, automatic sleep tracking, wireless syncing and are splash resistant (IPX7). iBall has launched MusiTap, its latest Bluetooth headset with built-in FM radio and also has a built-in microphone for calls. It has 5 hours of usage time, if it drains out, you can simply plug in the included Aux cable to the 3.5mm audio jack and carry on. It can also be used as a portable music player with the in-built MicroSD Support.
Acer today launched Swift 7, which is currently the world’s thinnest laptop at just 9.98mm, thinner than the 10.4mm HP Spectre that was launched earlier this year. It was announced at the IFA in August, is powered by a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 16:9 IPS display with a micro-bezel and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top, is powered by seventh-gen 1.2GHz Intel Core i5-7Y54 processor with Intel HD Graphics 615, 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 256GB SSD. Smartphone market in India crossed the 30 Million unit shipments milestone for the first time ever in a quarter in CY Q3 2016, according to the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker.
