Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Note 3 in India as we reported last week. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was announced at the IFA 2013 and the pre-bookings for it started few days back on the official Samsung eStore. It packs a 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED display, powered by 1.9 GHz Octa Core ( A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz) Processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. It packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory,  microSD slot (up to 64GB) and 3200 mAh battery. Lava Iris 505 and Iris 506Q, two new Android smartphones are now available for sale from online retailer Snapdeal. The Iris 505 has a 5-inch  (854×480 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. The Iris 506Q has a 5-inch qHD  (960 × 540 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Both these phones feature a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. These run on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and come with Dual SIM support with dual standby and 3G connectivity. HTC launched the Desire 600 Dual SIM back in July for Rs. 26,860, now the dual SIM variant with support for CDMA and GSM called Desire 600c is available from online retailer Flipkart. Other features are similar including a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) pixels super LCD2 display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8625Q processor, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor. Xolo Q1000S Benchmarks

Xolo Q1000S Benchmarks

Xolo launched the Q1000S, successor of the Q1000 at a price tag of Rs. 18,999 last month. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently. Here we have the benchmarks of the device.  It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek 6589T processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. Since this has a faster processor, the scores would obviously be better than the MT6589 chip clocked at 1.2 GHz present in the Q1000. The Spice Pinnacle FHD Mi-525 that was launched back in July also has the same chip. The Q1000S has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) OGS display similar to the Q1000, but the device is a lot slimmer and has  Let’s find out how this compete with other devices in range of synthetic benchmark tests.

Videocon launches new packs with free incoming calls while roaming on other networks


Videocon Mobile Services was the first operator in India to offer incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default, without any processing fee or a special tariff voucher. Now the company has launched 3 new free National Incoming Roaming packs starting at Rs. 4. The new packs are aimed towards increasing consumer delight by cutting down roaming costs by 90% on rack rate, says Videocon. Aircel launches new 10 paise per minute local calling packs in Delhi

Aircel has launched two new rate cutters for pre-paid customers in Delhi that offers local calling rates 90% less at 10p/min. These packs are price at Rs. 27 and Rs. 11 respectively. The Rs. 27 pack offers all local calls at 10p/min for first 100 minutes and post that 40 paise per minute. It comes with a validity for 21 days. Samsung would launch the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear in India at an event on September 17th.  Samsung India has started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 3 from the official eStore  The pre-order price is Rs. 2000 . So far all the flagship smartphones had a 5-inch starting from the Micromax Canvas A100. Even the Micromax Canvas 4 that we reviewed recently had a 5-inch HD display. Micromax launched the Canvas Doodle 2 A240 recently with a 5.7-inch HD display at a price tag of Rs. 19,990. We reviewed the first A111 Canvas Doodle last month, which was launched back in May. Even though the Doodle comes under the Canvas series, it was not the company’s flagship phone. The Canvas Doodle 2 costs twice as much as the first Doodle. Official IRCTC apps for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 announced in partnership with Microsoft

This might be the biggest coup for Microsoft in India. IRCTC, the notorious Indian Railways train ticket booking website known for its crashes and slowness under usual heavy Indian loads has received an exclusive app for the Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 platforms, developed in partnership with Microsoft. This app will naturally let you book tickets, make PNR enquiries, check booking and cancellation histories and more. But the most important catch here is that the app will not be able to book tickets between 08:00 to 12:00 or 23:30 to 00:30 hrs of any day. This is presumably to reduce the expected additional load from mobile devices in the peak booking times, due to this app. You can download the app for Windows 8 here (link now LIVE) and Windows Phone 8 here.

BlackBerry has just launched the 9720, a budget smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard running on BlackBerry OS 7.1 in India. It was announced last month and has a 2.8-inch (480 x 360 pixels) capacitive touch screen display with 246 ppi and a Full QWERTY keyboard. It is powered by 806 MHz processor and runs on BlackBerry OS 7.1. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. It also has a dedicated BBM key that is user customizable.
