Apple has announced apps and games optimised for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. App Store editorial collections featuring compatible apps and games will appear on Friday, October 23, with further app updates planned throughout the year. Compatible apps will carry a Made for iPhone Duo badge on their App Store product pages.
The iPhone Duo’s foldable design gives apps more room to display content and controls. According to Apple, its inner display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both displays share the same aspect ratio, allowing apps to transition between them and scale proportionally, while Split View lets users open two apps side by side on an iPhone for the first time.

Developer tools and APIs
Apple said more than 2,000 developers attended over 50 in-person workshops across 19 cities. Further workshops are planned in London, Mexico City, Montreal, Paris and Toronto. Developers can also consult Apple engineers and designers through online and in-person programmes, technical guides and Apple Developer Forums.
The iOS 27.1 SDK adds APIs for adapting apps to the device:
- SwiftUI and UIKit: Automatically adapt to both displays, move controls within reach, expand into multiple columns on the inner display and position buttons away from the fold.
- Arrangement and reserved region APIs: Divide content across the fold or extend it edge to edge.
- Hinge API: Respond to the display angle.
- Scene accessories: Show content on both displays, such as a teleprompter on the outer screen while recording.
- Camera APIs: Support selfies with the rear cameras and the first under-display camera on iPhone.
Device Hub in Xcode 27.1 lets developers open, close, fold and rotate a simulated iPhone Duo to test different positions. Apple has published design guidance and Tech Talks through Apple Developer, and developers can submit optimised apps to the App Store now.
