It has been close to eight months since the Mi A2, Xiaomi’s second Android One smartphone was launched. Earlier this year a report from XDA said that the company is working on its successor code-named orchid_sprout. Now a new report says that the company is working on two Android One phones codenamed ‘bamboo_sprout’ and ‘cosmos_sprout’ along with another phone codenamed ‘pyxis’ which should be the Chinese version of one of these phones.
Google, at I/O 2017 unveiled Google Lens with the ability to identify objects and, and at I/O 2018 it announced that Lens will be available directly in the camera app on supported devices from various OEMs including LG, Motorola, Xiaomi, HMD/Nokia and OnePlus. Xiaomi launched the Mi Men’s Sports Shoes 2 in India under Mi Crowdfunding last month, and the company started shipping the shoes a few days ago. Xiaomi has reported its earning for the fourth quarter (Q4 2018) and the whole financial year of 2018 that ended December 31, 2018. It reported revenue of 174.9 billion yuan (US$ 26.05 billion) for FY 2018, an increase of 52.6% compared to FY 2017, among which international revenue grew 118.1% year-on-year to 70.0 billion yuan, accounting for 40% of its total revenue. Net profit for year 2018 was approximately 13.478 billion yuan. Adjusted net profit (Non-IFRS Measure) was 8.6 billion yuan, up 59.5% YoY. Xiaomi’s Black Shark announced the Black Shark 2 Gaming Phone yesterday. As expected the company has announced that it will be launching in India soon. It also detailed some additional features and accessories for the phone.
Xiaomi just launched the Redmi Go, the company’s first Android Go Edition smartphone in India, as it had promised. It was announced earlier this year and packs a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE with dedicated SIM slots and a 3000mAh battery.
Xiaomi has officially launched Mi Pay, the company’s latest mobile payment solution in India, after it was introduced back in December last year. Mi Pay is supported by ICICI Bank, has a basic UI and it requires Phone, Contacts and SMS permissions to run. Users have an option to transfer money to UPI address and Bank Account directly.

Xiaomi introduced Mi AirDots Youth Edition Bluetooth wireless headset in China few months back, now under the Redmi brand, the company has introduced Redmi AirDots wireless Bluetooth 5.0 headset in China, along with the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Redmi 7, as expected. Along with the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi also introduced the Redmi 7 smartphone in China, as it had promised. It has a 6.26-inch HD+ waterdrop notch display, is powered by Snapdragon 632 SoC with up to 4GB of RAM, runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10, features a 12-megapixel rear camera with LED flash along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera for capturing depth information in portrait shots. It also has an 8-megapixel camera on the front.
Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 7 Pro for the Chinese market, as it had promised. It comes in 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version for China, costs 1599 yuan (US$ 238 / Rs. 16,350 approx.) compared to Rs. 16,999 in India. It will go on sale in China starting March 22nd. Other specifications are similar to the Redmi Note 7 Pro version that was launched in India last month.
