Black and Red Samsung Galaxy S3 launched in Korea

Samsung has launched the Sapphire Black and Garnet Red Galaxy S3 in Korea. The Garnet Red version of the Galaxy S3 went on sale in India last year. The Galaxy S3 is already available in Marble White and Pebble Blue colors, and Samsung launched Martian Pink Galaxy S3 in Korea last September. Android 4.1.2 update rolling out for Galaxy Camera

Delivering on their promise of providing Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy Camera, Samsung has today flipped the switch for the update and are pushing it to devices around the world. Our own unit just received the update over the air. Users shouldn’t expect too much in terms of new features from the update which mostly contains bug fixes.

Samsung Galaxy Note II vs Nokia 808 PureView – #BOTF12 Round 1

After a brilliant close-call battle between the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the LG Optimus G, with the Optimus G ending up on top, we now turn to a different kind of a flagship battle. This involves a fight of innovation and fierce market disruption from two long time industry veterans. Yes, Samsung and Nokia have been in this game far too long to be considered irrelevant. Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Duos and Galaxy Ace Duos get a price cut in India


Samsung has cut the price of the Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S Duos and the Galaxy Ace Duos in India, just in time for the new year. The Samsung Galaxy S3 got a price cut to Rs. 34,900 back in September, now the device is available for Rs. 31,900 after the recent price cut. It was launched in India in May for a MRP of Rs. 43,180. Even the 32GB version of the Galaxy S3 got a price to Rs. 34,900. The Galaxy Note got a price cut to Rs. 29990 back in September, now the device is available for Rs. 27,500 after the recent price cut. Apple reportedly moving its ARM chip supplies away from Samsung

According to a report from China Times, a Taiwanese publication, Apple is shifting its “flip-chip chip scale package for ARM chips” contract from Samsung’s SEMCO to Taiwanese printed circuit board maker Unimicron Technology Corp. Unimicron is a Taiwan based semiconductor company which deals with PCB related technology. This move clearly indicates Apple’s unwillingness to work with Samsung.

10 million Samsung Galaxy devices sold in India

Samsung India has announced that they have sold 10 million Galaxy devices in India, since the Galaxy S, their first Galaxy device that was launched in India in June 2010. Samsung did not reveal the exact numbers for each devices, but said that the Samsung SIII, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Y has contributed to more that 50% of the sales. Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy Note 2 users in India. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was launched in India back in September with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, but got the Multi-Window or Multiscreen feature in a OTA update later. Samsung to show off 5.5-inch HD flexible smartphone display at CES 2013


Samsung Display would show off a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Smartphone display with a pixel density of 267 PPI at CES 2013, according to a report from CNET. Samsung has patented the concept of foldable display in South Korea back in 2006, but they recently  acquired U.S patent for a foldable displays. Samsung unveiled a 4.5-inch (480 x 800 pixels) flexible AMOLED display with 207 PPI at CES 2011 that had a bending radius of 10 mm. Samsung to fix Exynos 4 exploit with software update soon

A XDA member recently found an exploit in the Samsung devices powered by Exynos 4210 or a 4412 processors that would offer read/write access to the physical memory through malicious applications. Android Central now reports that they have received a official word from Samsung who have announced that they have acknowledged this issue and are working on a software fix that would roll out for these devices soon. Samsung Galaxy Grand with 5-inch display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1 announced

Samsung has announced Galaxy Grand, a new Android phone in the Galaxy series. It has a 5-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, BSI sensor for better low-light imaging, zero shutter-lag and ultra-quick camera start-up. It also has a 2MP HD front-facing camera. It would come in dual SIM (GT-I9082) and single SIM (GT-I9080) variants. It also Samsung’s unique features such as Multi Window (Multiscreen), S Voice, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Smart Alert and AllShare Play. Samsung Exynos 4 exploit grants dangerous R/W access to RAM

A keen XDA member named alephzain has exploited a rather big security hole in devices that are powered by the Samsung Exynos 4 chipset. These Exynos 4 powered devices apparently have their physical memory access open for all kinds of applications, if exploited. Sounds serious.
