Samsung Galaxy Tab S 2 tablets in 8-inch (SM-T710) and 9.7-inch variants soon will be unveiled soon, according to Sammobile. It has also leaked the specifications of the tablets that would come with 2048×1536 pixels 4:3 Super AMOLED displays, similar to the iPad Air’, instead of 2560×1600 pixels WQXGA 16:10 displays on the first Tab S series. These tablets will just be 5.4mm thin, making it thinner than the iPad Air 2 that is 6.1mm thick, according to the leak, as rumored earlier. Samsung introduces first eMMC 5.1 flash memory
Samsung has announced that it has started developing industry’s first eMMC (embedded multimedia card memory) 5.1 flash memory. This is based on the eMMC 5.1 standard approved by JEDEC recently. Sequential reads and write speed of Samsung’s 64GB eMMC 5.0 flash memory were 250MB/s and 90MB/s respectively. Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 get a price cut in India
Samsung Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones have received a minor price cut in India within a month after the launch. Both these smartphones were launched for Rs. 19,300 and Rs. 23,000, respectively. According to Mumbai-based retailer Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom, the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 smartphones are now available at Rs. 18, 250 and Rs. 21,300, respectively. Samsung is now selling the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) smartphone on Amazon in India for Rs. 17,999. It was originally launched for Rs. 41,500 in India back in April 2013. It got several buy back offers and EMI schemes in India soon after the launch and received a price cut to Rs. 29,499 in March last year. Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab Active tablet for India at the Samsung Forum in Bangkok. It is the company’s first rugged Galaxy tablet with anti-shock covering that can withstand a 1.2-meter drop, with the protective cover on. It has 8.0-inch WXGA displays, powered by 1.2 quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It is also water and dust resistant with IP67 certification.
