A South Korean appeals court on Monday has suspended Samsung’s Heir Jay Y. Lee’s jail term after a year’s detention over the corruption scandal that brought down the former president. The Seoul High Court jailed Lee for two and a half years, reducing the original term by half, and suspended the sentence for charges including bribery and embezzlement, meaning he does not have to serve time. Samsung ended the Android Oreo 8.0 beta testing for the S8 and the S8+ last week and both the flagships are expected to taste the Oreo update anytime now. Samsung has reported its earnings for Q4 2017, in which the company has made operating profit of 15.15 trillion won ($14.13 billion), up 64.3% YoY for the quarter that ended December 31, 2017. This is a new all-time high quarterly profit, due to strong sales of memory products for servers and mobile storage as well as OLED panels for premium smartphones. Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the company’s next flagship smartphones in the ‘Galaxy S’ series have finally surfaced in press image ahead of official announcement at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona next month, thanks to @evleaks. Only the front part of the smartphones have been revealed, which look similar to the S8 series with Infinity display, minimal bezels and a bunch of sensors on the top. Samsung has finally sent out invites for its Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event during MWC 2018 in Barcelona where it will unveil its flagship Galaxy S9 series of smartphones. This was already rumored, and February 25th is a day ahead of the expected date that will clash with HMD Global’s event.
Samsung has announced 860 PRO and 860 EVO Solid State Drives successors of 850 PRO and 850 EVO that were introduced back in 2015. Both these come in up to 4TB capacities to hold up to 114 hours and 30 minutes of 4K Ultra HD video.
