Sony Xperia SL Review

When we reviewed the Xperia S earlier this year, we felt that it was a new start for Sony. Continuing its tradition of good design, packing an excellent display we quite liked the Xperia S. However the pace of the mobile industry is such that it has been far out-specced since its launch. Following the lead of HTC with its One X refresh, Sony too has launched a new updated version of the Xperia S dubbed the Xperia SL.

Not much has changed in the Xperia SL externally as it retains its beautiful hardware. The screen is still quite nice while the processor has been bumped up to a Dual Core Snapdragon S3 processor clocked at 1.7Ghz compared to the 1.5Ghz processor on the Xperia S.  Keep reading for our full impressions. Lava XOLO A700 Unboxing

Apple iPad 4 Priced at Rs.31900 , coming soon to India

 

Apple is expected to launch the iPad 4 (4th Gen) in India soon along with the iPad mini.The base 16GB WiFi only version is expected to be launched at Rs.31900.The iPad 4 was announced just under 6 months after the iPad 3’s launch which has caused a lot of disappointment amongst iPad 3 owners including myself . The main changes on the 4th gen iPad include the faster A6X processor , lightning connector and faster WiFi and LTE support. If you own a iPad 3 , you can hang on to it for a while but if you are using an iPad 2 and looking to upgrade , you can surely consider the iPad 4. Apple is just calling it the iPad with Retina Display !

Spice to launch new Stellar Series of Android Smartphones mid-December

Spice has announced that they plan to launch range of Android Smartphones in the Stellar Series mid-December. The company launched 3 smartphones in the stellar series, Spice Stellar (Mi-425), Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) and Spice Stellar Craze (Mi-355) earlier this year. Spice has also said that these phones would come in very strategic and aggressive price points. So we can expect a tough competition between Spice and other local OEMs like Karbonn and Micromax, since these companies have launched several affordable Android Smartphones recently. Sony Xperia E and Xperia E dual with 3.5-inch display, 1GHz processor announced

Sony has announced Xperia E and Xperia E dual, new Android Smartphones in the Xperia series. The Xperia E is the single SIM phone, while the Xperia E dual comes with dual-SIM support. These phones have a 3.5-inch (320 x 480 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor similar to the Xperia J. Xperia E comes with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), while the Xperia E dual would launch on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is upgradable to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Nokia Lumia 620 unveiled, to be available starting January for $250

Nokia just introduced its latest Windows Phone 8 handset at the Le Web Conference in Paris. Marking the lower end of the Windows Phone 8 range the phone will be offered in seven colors and supports exchangeable shells in gloss and matte finishes depending on the color you chose.

Qualcomm announces new quad-core Snapdragon S4 chips

Qualcomm, the largest SoC maker has announced 2 new quad-core Snapdragon S4 chips. The MSM8226 and MSM8626 are the quad-core versions of MSM8225 and MSM8625 that were announced last December. These new chips would feature Adreno 305 GPU instead of Adreno 203 in the previous version and would offer long battery life for mass market smartphones. These have integrated WTR2605 multi-mode radio transceiver for china-specific bands such as TD-SCDMA, CDMA 1xAdv and HSPA+ that also saves power up to 40 percent compared to previous generations. Google Updates YouTube for iOS App

Today, Google has updated the YouTube app for iOS. This update adds native support for the iPad and the iPhone. In addition, the app now supports AirPlay, offers more advanced playlist management, improved voice over support, and more.

Google’s Horia Ciurdar says that more than 25 percent of all YouTube watching happens on mobile. Since the launch of the YouTube app back in September, Ciurdar says Google has “been hard at work to improve the app based on your feedback.”

Now the YouTube app will get ‘enhanced’ AirPlay support, letting you shoot your videos over to your Apple TV. Videos are also said to start faster and play more smoothly. Google has also improved VoiceOver support for those with visual impairments.

YouTube also says that users will find improved performance and faster video loading with this update.

The Mi-book L1 and L1 come with a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display, while the Mi-Book L9+ comes with a 9-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi-touch display. Nokia to sell head office building for €170 million, plans to lease it back

Sony Xperia P, U, Sola and Go new Android 4.0.4 update brings bug fixes and performance improvements


Sony Mobile has started rolling out new Android 4.0.4 (Firmware version 6.1.1.B.1.54) update for Xperia P, Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia Go. This update brings bug fixes and performance improvements including improvements to stability,WiFi, tethering/portable hotspot, camera (capture and playback), NFC and Messaging. Sony rolled out ICS update for Xperia P starting from August and for the Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia G starting from September earlier this year. Apple launches iTunes Music & Video Store in India

Apple has finally introduced its Music and Video store in India giving users here another avenue to get hold of content legally. Pricing is quite competent with individual tracks being priced between Rs 12-15 per track and most albums ranging from Rs. 110 to Rs. 300 depending on how old the album is and its popularity.

Movie pricing varies between Rs. 290 to Rs. 500 for SD or HD movies. You also have an option to rent them at Rs. 80 for Bollywood content while International movies will be charged at Rs. 120. Users can purchase and download music videos for priced between Rs. 15 and Rs 20 depending on content.

The Bollywood content is looking quite solid though if you’re looking for a good international collection especially movies, you might be disappointed. The iTunes Match service which lets you match your music collection to the cloud has also been launched here at Rs. 1200.
