The sun is finally setting on Windows Phone 8.1. Microsoft is officially ending support for the Windows Phone 8.1 OS, more than three years after it was introduced. Millions of users with Windows Phone 8.1 phones will stop receiving security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates.

Microsoft to lay off 3,000 jobs as part of major reorganization

Microsoft’s AI-powered Pix app for iPhone updated with Prisma-like filters

Microsoft has updated its AI-powered Pix camera app with filters similar to Prisma. The feature was developed in collaboration with Microsoft’s Asia research lab and Skype. Pix Styles, transforms pictures into styles inspired by popular works of art or adds an effect such as making the picture look like it is on fire.

Intel hints at potential patent infringement by Qualcomm and Microsoft over Windows on ARM’s x86 emulation

Last month at the Computex 2017 Qualcomm announced that ASUS, HP and Lenovo will be the first OEM to develop mobile PCs powered by the ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform with X16 LTE modem. Microsoft acquires cybersecurity firm Hexadite

Microsoft has signed an agreement to acquire cybersecurity firm Hexadite. The Israeli based company was founded in 2014 and specializes in delivering automatic incident investigation and remediation solutions. In May, Israeli financial news website Calcalist said Microsoft would pay $100 million for Hexadite. Neither of the companies has revealed terms of the deal.

It is just called the Surface Pro and has the same 12.3-inch (2160×1440 pixels) display with 267 PPI,  8-megapixel camera at the back and a 5-megapixel camera at the front, but this is powered by latest seventh-generation Kaby Lake processors.
