Last year, Google built-in advanced security keys into Android phones as a part of its Advanced Protection Program. The program consisted of Google’s strongest security protections against the constantly evolving phishing attacks. Now, Google has announced that they are supporting iPhone users with these advanced security keys.
Google is bringing a bunch of new updates to the Google Assistant today at CES 2020 that will be coming to everyone later this year. This includes features like Scheduled Actions, a central place for sticky notes, interpreter mode for businesses and support for the Assistant on more devices.
Xiaomi launched its Home Security Camera earlier this year which supports 1080p recording with AI motion detection, infrared night vision, and more. While there has been a rise in the use and adoption of home security cameras and other smart home devices recently, there are issues related to privacy and security. On similar lines, today, a Xiaomi Security Camera displayed pictures from other cameras on a user’s Google Nest Hub and this issue has affected a group of users.
Google launched the Pixel 3a smartphone last year in India and brought back the 3.5mm headphone jack after removing it from Pixel 3. The company recently launched its flagship Pixel 4 recently and it did not launch in India. Now renders of the upcoming Pixel 4a have surfaced revealing the design and key details, and it could launch in India too if it does not come with Project Soli.
Soon, you might be able to record larger video files for 4K recordings as code has been spotted in Android 11 AOSP code that removes the current 4GB file limitation. This will update a decision taken by Google back in 2014 to set the 4GB approximate file size limit as that was all that required at the time.
Google Photos has been adding new features off late like movie editor for web, search for text in pictures, manual face tagging, and more. On similar lines now, Google Photos v4.33 update lets users zoom in while watching videos and as of now, it is an unreleased feature.

Google Translate offline is a pretty nifty feature for those situations when your data connection is unreliable or non-existent. Now Google has pushed an update that makes offline translation about 12% more accurate for 59 languages and added transliteration support for 10 languages.
YouTube Music is updating to finally get a much awaited feature, called personalised mixes. They will come in 3 types – the new Discover Mix, New Release Mix, and Your Mix. These three mixes will help users keep up to date on what’s just been released and also expose them to a wider range of music and artists.
Google has paused the rollout of Chrome 79 that was just released with the new phishing protections updates. Users who updated discovered a bug that caused data from other apps to be deleted. The reason identified had to do with how apps use Android WebView on Android.

Google is rolling out a new feature called Verified SMS that ensures users can confirm the true identity of the business that’s texting them. This feature will better protect users from possible phishing scams received via SMS. Along with this Google is also rolling out better Spam protection for Messages.
Update: Google has announced that the interpreter mode is now rolling out for Assistant-enabled Android and iOS phones worldwide that lets you translate across 44 languages. It’s integrated with the Assistant on Android phone. To access it on iOS, you can download the latest Google Assistant app.
Google is releasing a new developer focused streaming media device called ADT-3 for developers to built and test out Android TV app implementations on Android 10. With the release of Android API level 29, Google is adding more performance and security updates with Android 10 to Android TV.
Google has now improved its Search, in particular timely topics, with better organisation using machine learning to help users explore more useful, recent articles. The newer Search will present results grouped by topics that are related to the searched term, letting users choose the angle at which they want explore deeper into the topic.

Google is releasing a bunch of new features and updates to Pixel users with the Pixel feature drops via software updates. The first feature drop will include updates to Google Photos, Duo, Call Screen, improved memory management and more. Google promises it will continue improving the experience on Pixel phones with more Feature drops in the future.
