YouTube has finally launched YouTube Music streaming service in India, after it was announced back in May last year. Google launched its Play Music service in India back in 2016. YouTube Music lets you play official songs, albums, thousands of playlists and artist radio plus YouTube’s huge catalog of remixes, live performances, covers and music videos – all simply organized and personalized.
Started with Snapchat, Facebook extended the ‘Stories’ feature to Whatsapp and Instagram last year. Falling in the same line, Google has rolled out the much-used feature on YouTube as Reels in 2017 to about 100 creators. A few days back, Google reported a couple of vulnerabilities –one affecting Google Chrome and another in Microsoft Windows that were being exploited together. In an attempt to curb it down, Google released an update for all Chrome platforms on March 1; this update was pushed through Chrome auto-update. Smart Compose is a neat addition to Gmail which based on your email writing patterns and commonly used phrases, tries to predict what you will say next and surfaces it as a suggestion that you can simply accept. The feature was initially available as an experimental feature on the desktop and then was added to G Suite accounts. Google has released Bolo, an Android app that is aimed at improving the reading skills of children. Bolo is powered by the company’s speech recognition and text-to-speech technology that comes built-in with a helpful reading buddy, “Diya.” which explains and corrects the child, as they read aloud.

Google is said to be working on another Google Glass. Following up on the original Explorer Edition, the company rolled out its first Enterprise Edition of Glass publicly in mid-2017. Google’s Project Zero has reported and publicly disclosed a “high severity” flaw in the macOS kernel which can grant an attacker access to a users computer without their knowledge. Security researchers discovered that if a modification is made to a user-owned mounted filesystem image, the virtual management system isn’t notified of those changes. This lets attacker access to perform malicious actions on that mounted filesystem without the end user ever knowing about it. Google has started rolling out new over-the-air (OTA) update for Pixel devices and also posted factory images as part of monthly Android Security release. The update for this month also includes several functional improvements for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that includes faster camera startup and responsiveness, storage performance improvements, Bluetooth reliability, playback improvements for encrypted media on some apps.
Google back in 2018 had announced the Android Slices at I/O 2018 event and began testing the new UI in the later part of 2018 with third-party apps. Slices are designed to surface the key features of applications in natural places, like Google Search. Now, the Shortcuts for the Settings app on Pixel devices are beginning to roll out. Google is removing the ability to fully unlock the phone using Voice Match on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. At CES 2019, the company said that this feature would be coming to all Android devices. Replacing the full device unlock is the Voice Match recognition on phones and tablets can now only provide Assistant “personal results,” like email and calendar entries. Update – February 27, 2019: Now you can enable this feature in Chome Canary from chrome://flags and enabling #enable-android-web-contents-dark-mode. The dark mode looks a bit weird in some web pages since it inverts images colors looking more like high contrast mode than dark mode. This is also available for the web.

In 2018, the company launched a new feature that notifies users when they are installing new or rare apps.
