40,000 units of Asus Zenfone smartphones sold in four days in India

Asus recently launched its budget friendly range of Zenfone handsets in India. Today, the company has announced that 40,000 units of the smartphones have already been sold within 4 days of the debut in Indian market. Asus launched the Zenfone 4 starting at Rs 5,999, Zenfone 5 starting at Rs 9,999 and Zenfone 6 at Rs. 16,999. The Zenfone series is available online only on Flipkart and through Asus’s authorized channels since its launch in India on July 9th.

Along with the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6, Asus also launched the Zenfone 4 in India today. It comes in two variants. The Asus Zenfone 4 (A400CG) has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive multi touch display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Zen UI that is upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). Asus has launched the Zenfone 6 in India along with the Zenfone 5. It was unveiled along with other Zenfone smartphones earlier this year. The Zenfone 6 packs a 6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive multi touch display with Corning gorilla glass 3 protection, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with PowerVR SGX 544 MP2 GPU and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Zen UI on top. It is also upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. ASUS Zenfone 5 Camera Samples

Asus announced the Zenfone range in January this year that included the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6. We got our hands on the Zenfone 5 prior to its official release this week. Check out the hands on and unboxing video along with benchmarks of the device. The phone which has a 5inch HD display and is powered by Intel Atom Z2580 Chip clocked at 2GHz. The memory storage includes 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage options. The Asus ZenFone 5 runs on Android 4.3 Jellybean and will get the Android 4.4 KitKat update very soon.

Asus has released the Android 4.4 (KitKat) update for the Padfone 2, the company’s second Padfone device that was launched back in 2012, as it promised earlier this year. The KitKat update also brings new Asus ZenUI 1.1 with a new user interface. The ZenUi brings clean layout, flat icons, new color themes, animations, new ringtone and notification tones. Asus is working on a smartwatch that runs on Google’s Android Wear, according to a report from TechCrunch. It says that the company is planning to release an Android Wear-powered smartwatch in September.

Asus Zenfone series reportedly launching in India on July 9th

Asus is planning to launch the Zenfone series – Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 in India on July 9th, according to a report from The Times of India. These are the first smartphones from Asus that were announced at the CES 2014 earlier this year have 4, 5 and 6-inch displays. The Zenfone 4 has a 4-inch WVGA screen and the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 have 5-inch and 6-inch HD displays, respectively. ASUS Zenfone 5 Unboxing

ASUS, the Taiwanese manufacturer, has been in the Android race for quite a while now, at times, experimenting with form factors and convergence. Niche markets aside, like any other company, ASUS also caters to the mass market crowd which just wants to pick up a smartphone. Along those lines, the company revealed three devices, with various screen sizes, ranging from 4 to 6 inches in screen sizes, but with identical user experience. These devices under the “Zenfone” range were announced way back in January during CES, but are only starting to appear in the retail market. We bought one off from a Taipei market, and here is our unboxing video to show the device off, to you –

Along with the Fonepad 7 refresh, Aus also unveiled the Fonepad 8 (FE380CG) at the Computex 2014 in Taipei. This has almost similar specifications as the new Fonepad 7 (FE375CG) , but this has a 8-inch (1280 x 800) HD IPS display, compared to the 7-inch HD display on the Fonepad 7. At the Computex 2014 event held in Taipei, Asus announced successors to the MeMO Pad 7 and MeMO Pad 8. The Asus MeMO Pad 7 wasn’t much of an update, but the MeMO Pad 8 was updated with a better Full HD display and internal specifications overhaul. We managed to get our hands on both the updated Asus MeMO Pad 7 and Asus MeMO Pad 8 and we shot a photo gallery comparing the two MeMO Pads.

Asus MeMO Pad 7 Photo Gallery

Asus made a lot of announcements at Computex 2014 event that was held in Taipei and the refreshed Asus MeMO Pad 7 was among the them. Asus announced the upgraded MeMO Pad 7 after an year and in terms of specifications, there isn’t much change except for the fact that the MediaTek processor in the yesteryear model has been replaced by a powerful Intel Atom Z3745 SoC in the latest generation.
