Last week WhatsApp announced changes in its Terms of Service and privacy policy and asked users to accept it by February 8 to keep using the service. Telegram adds 25 million new users in 72 hours, surpasses 500 million active users

Telegram CEO and Founder Pavel Durov in a blogpost announced that Telegram has added 25 million new users globally in the last 72 hours alone. It surpassed 500 million monthly active users in the first week of January. The new rise is due to the new update to WhatsApp’s privacy policy which the company clarified later after backlash from people. Several users moved to Telegram and Signal. WhatsApp clarifies its data sharing and privacy policy after public backlash

A couple of days ago, WhatsApp updated their terms of service and privacy policy, forcing their users to accept it before the 8th of February. After receiving a lot of backlash and losing a lot of users to Telegram and Signal, WhatsApp has posted a new FAQ detailing what information is not collected and not shared with its parent company, Facebook.

WhatsApp updates terms of service and privacy policy: Accept it by Feb 8 to continue using the service

WhatsApp has started pushing a new notification for Android and iPhone users as part of an upcoming global roll-out, asking them to either accept the changes in its Terms of Service and privacy policy by February 8 or delete the account. Back in 2016 for the first time after it was acquired by Facebook, WhatsApp updated its privacy policy saying that it will share user’s data with Facebook, but it had opt out option. Instagram Lite app with size less than 2MB is coming back starting from India

Facebook has begun rolling out a new Lite version of Instagram app to Indian smartphone users as an attempt to expand their user base and reach more people in India. The app size is really small, less than 2MB and is claimed to provide the core Instagram experience that will be able to run fast and smooth on low-powered smartphones. It initially rolled out in Mexico back in 2018, but Facebook pulled the app later.
