Twitter API v2 update adds Spaces search endpoints to improve Spaces discoverability

Twitter appears to be quite invested in their their Spaces feature as they have announced new features in the Twitter API that will provide developers with tools to make Spaces more discoverable. Along with this, Twitter is also working on features for the future such as reminders and various tools for Spaces Hosts.

In the new Twitter API v2, there are two new features called Spaces lookup and Spaces search endpoints. Spaces Lookup is designed to help developers understand the public metadata and metrics associated with an active Space. Spaces search endpoints, on the other hand, will allow developers to use criteria like Spaces ID, user ID, or keyword, and build solutions that help people find interesting and relevant Spaces more easily.

In the future, Twitter is looking to introduce more functionality within the API that will allow developers build tools and solutions specifically for Spaces Hosts. Some examples of these features include:

  • Making certain metrics fields available via the API
  • Enable developers to build analytics dashboards and other performance measurement tools for Spaces Hosts
  • Integrate the creation of reminders for upcoming Spaces into a developer’s tools.
