Google has updated the Google Now launcher with landscape support on phones, which is now back after it was tested in Marshmallow developer preview. You can enable the new feature by enabling the ‘Allow rotation’ option in the settings. Some on-screen elements like the persistent search bar will adjust to accommodate each layout and the items in the dock also rotate individually to stack along the right side of the screen. Twitter for iOS now lets you watch live Periscope broadcasts directly within Tweets

Twitter has updated the iOS app to version 6.44 that now lets you watch Periscope broadcasts live, within the tweets. When there is a Tweet with a link for a Periscope broadcast, it will autoplay right within the Tweet. When you tap the video, it goes full-screen and shows Periscope comments and hearts from other viewers. It doesn’t require you to install Periscope app or even a Periscope account to watch the broadcasts on Twitter. Apple Music reportedly crosses 10 million subscribers

Apple Music has surpassed 10 million subscribers in just six months since its official launch in June, according to a new report from the Financial Times. The music streaming service was launched in June with three months of free trial.

Facebook Messenger hits 800 million monthly active users

Facebook has revealed that its Messenger app now has more than 800 million monthly active users (MAU). The social network said that Messenger crossed this mark at the end of 2015. In comparison, WhatsApp Messenger has 900 million monthly active users.

Google will switch to OpenJDK from Oracle’s Java APIs in Android N

Google has confirmed that it is biding adieu to Oracle’s proprietary Java application programming interfaces (APIs) for its next iteration of Android. The company is switching over to OpenJDK for Android N which was first spotted by users on Y Combinator’s Hacker News and confirmed by Venturebeat later.
