 As we all know by now, Telegram is a messaging app works similarly to WhatsApp, Signal, and Facebook Messenger. Founded by brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov, people behind Russian social network VK, this messaging platform comes equipped with an array of innovative and useful features. 

Last year, Telegram released a slew of updates for its Android and iOS users bringing the ability to transfer group ownership, among others. 

Through this feature, admin can choose to transfer the powers of a group or channel to another administrator id they wish to. Google Lens update brings “Copy to computer”, text translation and quick concept search

Over the years, Google Lens has become much better at using their AI to recognise text and images from a smartphone camera and provide contextual information. Today they released a new update that brings three new features; the ability to quickly copy text to a computer, text translation and pronunciation, and the ability to quickly look up concepts.

Spotify begins testing video podcasts for mobile and desktop client

Spotify have become a very popular platform for listening to podcasts anywhere and now the company is looking to extend the feature further. They have begun testing video podcasts on their platform, where creators will be able to upload the video recording of their podcast. The feature is first starting with two YouTube stars – Zane Hijazi and Heath Hussar, who  host the show “Zane and Heath: Unfiltered”.

Zoom update brings option to disable PMI and better security defaults for basic accounts

WhatsApp now lets 8 participants in group voice and video calls [Update: Now rolling out widely]

Update-28th April 2020: WhatsApp v2.20.141 web release is now available to download from WhatsApp’s official website and this version now supports up to 8 people in group voice and video calls. Users who are not on WhatsApp beta version are recommended to side load this APK. Similarly, WhatsApp for iOS v2.20.50 has been updated to support up to 8 people in group calls. Telegram v6.1.0 brings improved quizzes, sticker directory and more; crosses 400 million monthly users

Telegram, an instant messaging service, has announced that they have crossed 400 million active users, growing from the 300 million they had last year. They released an update too, that brought small improvements to quizzes, a sticker directory, a new attachment menu for android devices and more. They even announced a competition for Creators of Educational Tests with a prize pool of  €400K.

Google Search will now inform the user when the results are not great

It has become a reflex action for many of us to just search Google for something we need to find online, and more often than not Search will deliver. Google Assistant update brings better voice training and sensitivity toggle

The Google Assistant has been steadily improving voice recognition capabilities over the years. They introduced voice training when setting up the Google Assistant and now they have improved the training by including longer phrases to be said by the user. Along with this, Google is also adding a toggle to the voice assistants settings to control the sensitivity of triggering the assistant via voice.

Facebook decides not to introduce ads in WhatsApp Status for now [Update: More details]
