Facebook has announced that they are expanding their Messenger Kids app to 70 more countries, including India and adding more options for parents to control their kid’s online presence. Some of these features include Supervised Friending, more robust Group management and profile visibility for Friend suggestions.
Facebook today announced that it will buy 9.99% equity stake in Jio Platforms Limited, part of Reliance Industries Limited on a fully diluted basis for $5.7 billion or INR 43,574 crore, making Facebook its largest minority shareholder, the largest investment for a minority stake by a technology company anywhere in the world and the largest FDI in the technology sector in India. Facebook has reported a good year for 2019 as it released its Q4 2019 earnings report. The total earnings posted for this quarter was $21082 million which amounts to a YoY growth of about 24.64% from Q4 2018. The net income on the other hand, was reported at $7349 million which calculates to an increase of approx. 6.78% YoY.

Facebook has quietly removed the option to sign up with mobile number and has now made it a mandatory requirement to sign up with a Facebook Account. Earlier, users could sign up with their mobile numbers instead of a Facebook account for both Messenger and Messenger Lite.
It seemed inevitable that Facebook would eventually decide to make its own operation system to reduce its dependancy on Google for Android, Apple, etc. In a report by theinformation.com, Facebook is currently looking into developing an OS from the ground up for its future hardware devices.
