Facebook acquires MSQRD video filter app in a bid to level up with Snapchat

Facebook rolled out Facebook Lite version of Facebook for Android built for emerging markets back in June 2015. Today it has announced that the app has crossed 100 million monthly active users. “It’s the fastest-growing version of Facebook to reach 100 million users in under nine months,” said Facebook. The app is aimed at offering lightweight, fast, and native Facebook experience for people using typical Android phones and network connections in emerging markets. ZTE has announced (Via) Blade V580, the company’s latest smartphone in the Blade series in Japan. It packs a 5.5-inch 1080p display, is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek MT6753 processor and runs on Android 5.1 (Lollipop). It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, fingerprint sensor on the back, 4G LTE connectivity and hybrid SIM support. Samsung has introduced Galaxy J1 (2016) (SM-J120), it’s latest budget 4G smartphone in Russia and also Galaxy J1 mini (SM-J105), a budget 3G smartphone in Philippines and Russia (Via). The Galaxy J1 was first shown off in Dubai, while the Galaxy J1 mini surfaced in benchmarks last year. Both these phones come with dual SIM support. The Galaxy J1 (2016) also comes in 3G variant in some market.

Samsung just launched its flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones in India, as it had promised last week. Both these were announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, pack a 5.1-inch Quad HD and 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED always-on displays, respectively. These are powered by an Octa-Core Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC, run Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), come with a 12-megapixel Dual pixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
