iPhone was never a perfect navigational device, though it has Maps App but it hardly solved the purpose, it just shows your current position and roughly calculates distance between point A and B. The scenario increased a little on iPhone world, with release iPhone OS 3.0 and biggies like TomTom, Sygic etc. launched there turn by turn navigational App for iPhone. But to hail the maps were only limited to US, Canada and Australia .After so much wait now we have a hope here, Sygic has launched a full blown turn by turn navigational App for iPhone with maps of India.

Outside iPhone App: The Preview

After the developers were unsatisfied with iPhone’s Default weather App, they tried to built there own and till now I have not been satisfied with any one. What makes a iPhone App successful is a better UI, it’s usefulness and exploitation of total potential of iPhone’s hardware. Here comes the “Outside” the first App from the Robocat stable.

Outside gathers local weather data and presents them to you through a stylized window in your iPhone or iPod Touch. You can watch the current weather or swipe to see tomorrows forecast all from the cosy windows of this little universe.  Outside marries current weather and local forecasts with custom push notifications. Video Calls come to iPhone with Fring but only one way

The Mobile Messaging and Calling  Application Fring which recently announced support for Video calls on certain Nokia  and Symbian devices has brought video calling to the iPhone and iPod Touch. But the iPhone supports only one way video calls which Fring claims is due to the location of the Camera on the iPhone. iPhone coming to T-Mobile USA next year not Verizon

According to MacRumors Apple is already conducting Field Tests for the next gen iPhone in San Francisco Bay Area . The information comes from a company which makes an iPhone application called iBART.

The company Pandav has revealed that its application usage records or if we call it servers logs shows devices with the name iPhone3,1

iPhone enters Korea as Apple takes on Samsung and LG

WSJ reports that iPhone is already shaking up Korea as operator KT is launching the iPhone in South Korea on November 28th that’s today !  After getting regulatory clearance that Apple iPhone is not a Smartphone (South Korea has a ruling that does not allow smart phones to be sold ) the handset is going on sale today and already 50,000 pre-orders have been placed for this device. Which mobile platform do you love and why ?

mobile-platforms There are so many mobile platforms out there – Symbian , Android,  iPhone , Blackberry , Windows Mobile , Palm , Maemo and now Bada.  The handset market which was once dominated by Symbian and WinMo now has fierce competition from iPhone and Blackberry. Android is growing fast too. Maemo was was never destined to be used in a phone until the Nokia N900. Palm was almost out of the radar until the Palm Pre which came with the WebOS platform. Apple finally releases the iPhone in China, WiFi-less

Finally, after a long 2 year wait, Apple has officially announced the Apple iPhone with Unicom as its official network provider. But, as it always is with Apple, the Chinese versions of the iPhone will be shipping without what may be it’s most important feature, WiFi.

Yes, apple have released a WiFi-less iPhone, something that I consider very important since the iPhone’s software is kinda designed to always work best on WiFi networks. But if you Chinese guys(and ladies) can live without WiFi then you can always pick them up at 4,999 yuan($730) and 6,999 yuan($1,025). This pricing is quite strange since a regular iPhone 3GS(with wifi) can easily be bought for $835 in the black.

But this WiFi-less version of the iPhone may soon disapear considering that this initial batch was built when the Chinese government had it’s WiFi ban in force and since this was recently lifted I guess it won’t be soon before we see WiFi coming to these chinese iPhones. Maybe this is why the folks over at 163.com are reporting that there aren’t many people rushing to buy the iPhones.
