Coolpad files two lawsuits against Xiaomi over patent litigation in China

Coolpad has announced that its unit has filed lawsuits against three group firms of Xiaomi for several patent Infringements. The company’s subsidiary, Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific (Shenzhen) Co. Limited has filed a lawsuit against Xiaomi Telecom Technology Co, Xiaomi Technology Co, and Xiaomi Factory Co, in a court in Jiangsu province for using its patents without authorization. Coolpad receives $300 million funding, plans for Silicon Valley expansion with AI focus

Coolpad Group has received $300 million in funding from Power Sun Ventures after separating from LeEco in 2017. Coolpad with the new funding is aiming to expand its capabilities in artificial intelligence. Chinese property mogul Chen Hua, Founder, and Head, Kingkey Group, will be leading the new investment through Power Sun Ventures. After a period of hibernation, CoolPad caught up with the dual camera trend and launched a mid-ranger dubbed as Cool Play 6. Another selling point of this smartphone is its 6GB RAM. As of now, CoolPad Cool Play 6 is the cheapest 6GB RAM smartphone in the market retailing at Rs. 14,999 exclusively on Amazon India. They say that necessity is the mother of invention and true to that, Dual SIM smartphones were born out of the needs of business users, users who travelled a lot and those who often faced signal issues with specific networks. The uptake has been slow but today, a vast majority of phones across categories ship with Dual SIM support. You could say that it is a prerequisite for budget smartphones in India. With the advent of new telecom players like Jio though, those users are now in a dilemma of which SIM card to replace with a Jio SIM.
