Google pulls support for Exchange ActiveSync as part of winter cleaning

Google has announced its plans to do a bit of ‘Winter Cleaning‘ and as a part of it, the company will stop supporting Exchange ActiveSync for Gmail, Contacts and Calendar. Access will only be provided via IMAP, CalDAV and CardDAC which means that legacy devices such as Symbian phones  will no longer be able to connect to Google’s services.

Karbonn A30 smartphone with 5.9″ screen launched at Rs. 10,990

Karbonn, the maker of entry level Android smartphones, has launched its newest device called the Karbonn A30. The dual SIM handset runs on Android 4.0 ICS. The smartphone is powered by a 1Ghz dual core processor which promises improved gaming performance and a better web browsing experience. While we’re a bit short on details here, we expect the phone to be powered by Mediatek’s dual core solution.

Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 vs Intex Aqua 5.0 Photo Gallery


Micromax was one of the first manufacture to launch a smartphone with a 5.0-inch display in the Indian market. ZTE to unveil Grand S with 5-inch 1080p display at CES 2013

Lava XOLO A800 Dual SIM Android Smartphone now available for Rs. 11999

Lava XOLO A800, new phone in the XOLO series is now available from online retailers Flipkart and Snapdeal. Most features are similar to the A700 that went on sale last month including Dual SIM support, 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) 16M color capacitive touch screen IPS display and 1GHz dual-core  processor. Unlike the 5MP auto focus camera in the A700, the XOLO A800 has a 8MP auto focus camera with LED flash, BSI Sensor for better low-light imaging and a VGA front-facing camera. Facebook for Android goes native, Now twice as fast

Facebook for Android has always  struggled with performance issues and particularly laggy scrolling due to its dependence on webviews instead of native code. The company has now finally rolled out a native build of the app for Android which promises to double the performance of the application. The application is expected to be twice as fast at looking at photos and opening up the timeline.

Google has no plans to build Windows 8, WP8 apps

Hoping to use an official Gmail or Youtube app on your brand new Windows Phone device ? You might be out of luck as the company is not too keen on bringing its products to Microsoft’s mobile offering.

Micromax A68 Smarty 4.0, new phone in the Smarty range is now available from online retailers Saholic and Flipkart. The company launched the A25 Smarty budget Android phone couple of months back. The A68 comes with 2G EDGE support similar to the A25. It has a 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen IPS display and is powered by a 1 GHz MediaTek MT6515 processor. Nationwide Mobile Number Portability expected by February 2013


Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is expected to be rolled out Nationwide by February 2013, said Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, according to report from Economic Times. This would let the subscribers retain their numbers even if they move to another state, irrespective of the service provider. Mobile Number Portability (MNP) went live in India back in January 2011 that enables users retain their number when they switch from one operator to another within the circle. UC Browser crosses 400 million users globally

UCWeb, china-based company has announced that their UC Browser has crossed 400 million users globally. The company has announced it at AppFest 2012, organised by Internet And Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in Hyderabad. UC Browser has gained 100 million new users in less than a year and is on the top position among mobile browsers in India with market share of over 25%. Motiongraph app launched by Sony DNA, lets you create cinemagraphs on your Android phone

Sony’s Digital Network Applications division has pushed out a new application for Android devices which lets you create motion enabled images. The motiongraph smartphone application creates images in which part of the image moves like a video while the rest remains stationary creating a surreal effect.
