Google to kill SMS support for Hangouts for Android on May 22

Google added SMS support in Hangouts for Android back in 2013 to encourage use of Hangouts so they can read instant-messages sent them over SMS in case they don’t have an internet connection. After some reports in 2014 and 2015 that said that Google will kill support for carrier SMS and MMS, Google has decided to kill SMS support for Hangouts in May, 2017. Google Hangouts v15 gets GIF keyboard support on Android 7.1

Google has started rolling out GIF Keyboard support for Hangouts on Android 7.1 devices. The update which bumps the app to version 15 allows users to send GIFs and spruce up your daily conversation.

Google Hangouts with history and group video calling for iOS, Android and Chrome available immediately

Rumoured long time as the Google Babel, the company just unveiled a new product at the I/O conference, called as Google hangouts. This is a cross platform messenger with free group video calling and the ability to archive the whole chat history. This app is available immediately starting today for iOS, Android and Chrome on the web/desktop. This applications combines and replaces all of the messaging services that previously existed, like Google+ messenger, Gtalk and Hangout video chat into one app – the Google hangouts.
