Oppo Find 7 Review: Leading the race to the top

oppo-find-7-review-3

The idea of a Smartphone flagship is a race to the top where companies constantly try to 1up each other with class leading technology and innovative new additions to their top end smartphone, every year. The Find 7 is Oppo’s entrant into this increasingly crowded flagship rat race, meant to appeal to the buyer seeking cutting edge technology. The Chinese manufacturer has been playing this game since the Find 5, and for the second time, they have captured the pole position by introducing a Quad HD display in a smartphone way ahead of any one else. But the race has already started and the gap has closed, with new uncertainties and the competition rapidly stepping up its game. One of the major uncertainties is the need for a Quad HD display on a smartphone. With a 1080p display on its younger sibling (the cheaper Find 7a, read the review here), the Find 7 finds itself facing a tough argument from the user “Is a Quad HD display really needed?”. But even then, as a top end flagship, can it endure the onslaught from the competition and retain the pole position it wanted initially? Find out in our full review of the Oppo Find 7.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 First Impressions

samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-5-1

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is the Korean giant’s latest tablet for the enterprise, plain and simple. While it is very much the bigger brother of the Tab S 8.4 we just detailed, the form factor alone dictates a different destiny. Priced to match the iPad Air in the US, the Tab S 10.5 launched here, soon after the global launch, is unsurprisingly the higher end mobile version, priced at Rs. 44,800. Yes, a 10.5″ tablet that can make calls and even send SMS, but it will naturally be used for data, mostly. Tablets as a whole are mostly geared towards consumption, but companies have been trying to go at it from a productivity angle too, like the Surface and numerous other OEM based tablets. Samsung’s take on the Tab S 10.5 is based on the same idea, with a good amount of preinstalled enterprise focused apps. Armed with a Super AMOLED screen, the Tab S 10.5 aims to satisfy the office goer, and our first impressions video might help explain that cause a bit more, watch –

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4-4

Samsung unveiled their new Tab S products in New York and surprisingly, they didn’t take much time to bring it to India either. There were two Tab S devices announced, S possibly standing for Super AMOLED, because, lets face it, these new Samsung tablets are all about the screen. In India, the Tab S 8.4 and the Tab S 10.5 were launched for Rs. 37,800 and Rs. 44,800 respectively, catering to the premium market segment with mobile-only versions, while in the US, Samsung has squarely targeted the Tab S devices at iPad Air and retina iPad mini price points with WiFi-only versions. These are clearly decisions driven by market necessities and strategy, so with that in mind, we took a look at the mini version of the Tab S first to detail our first impressions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 –
