Rumors about the Sony Xperia Z3 (D6653) started few weeks back. Earlier this month a screenshot from the smartphone revealed the model number, Snapdragon 801 processor, 1080p display and Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS. Now @evleaks has revealed more details about the smartphone. According to the leak, the smartphone would feature a 5.15-inch 1080p display, 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

Skype has updated Android app with support for syncing contacts from your phone’s address book. The 5.0 update will prompt users to add their phone number and verify it. It will use your contact list and find users with Skype accounts. After verifying your number the Skype app will use it to allow other users to find you.

Aircel has partnered with Micromax to launch Canvas Beat, a new music smartphone. It went on sale recently as Canvas Beat A114R and packs a 5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Vidcore IV GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support, similar to other Canvas smartphones.

LG Electronics has announced their earnings for Q2 2014, in which it has reported net profit of 412 billion Won (US$ 399.8 million) with operating profits of 606 billion Won (US$ 588.5 million). Mobile communications sector earned revenues of 3.62 trillion Korean Won (US$ 3.51 billion), 16% increase YoY. Gionee has released the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update for the Elife E7 mini in India. The company rolled out KitKat update for the Elife S5.5 and CTRL V5 smartphones in India earlier this month. Unlike the OTA update for those phones, update for the Elife E7 mini needs to be installed via flash tools. The Elife E7 mini went on sale in India back in April running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), and the KitKat update brings revamped user interface, enhanced features like an updated Amigo paper and game zone, wallpapers application, improved security and more.
