Spice Retail has launched Stellar 520n, an upgraded version of the Spice Stellar 520 that was launched back in July. It has 5-inch HD OGS display, is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat), has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 8GB of internal storage compared to 4GB of storage in the Stellar 520. It comes pre-loaded with WhatsApp and Opera. Yota Devices launched the YotaPhone 2 in Russia yesterday. It was officially launched at an event in London few hours back. Originally announced at the MWC earlier this year, the YotaPhone 2 has a a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display, is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a full-touch control on its always-on electronic paper display (EPD) on the other side. The full-touch E Paper screen offers up to 50 hours of battery life when reading on the always-on display. O2 CEO: Three takeover is unlikely

The smartphone industry is on what seems to be a never ending trend where handsets are getting larger and larger and continually blurring the boundaries that separate smartphones from tablets. Samsung were arguably the first to offer a consumer-focused large screen device in the Galaxy Note and the success of this phablet alerted rival manufacturers to the possibilities of a large screen device.

In the case of Chinese manufacturer Huawei, their latest phablet is their third generation handset and the Ascend Mate 7 definitely packs a punch. Not only does it have the highest screen to body ratio of any smartphone but it also has a specs list that can rival most devices, including the latest from Samsung in the form of the Galaxy Note 4.

Google releases Android 5.0.1 factory images, pushes AOSP builds

Almost three weeks after releasing the OTA updates and pushing Android 5.0 (Lollipop) factory images, Google has released factory images for Android 5.0.1 for the Nexus 9, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 (2013) and also pushed the same to AOSP. There is no official changelog for this minor update, but according to a commenter over at the Android Police, this update is to fix a bug that could cause stray input on the lock screen to erase everything on the device.
