Samsung has announced Galaxy J3 (2017), the company’s latest budget smartphone in the U.S. for AT&T. It was introduced as Galaxy S3 Emerge for Sprint earlier this year and packs a 5-inch HD display, is powered by a quad-core Exynos 7570 14nm processor, has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Intel and Samsung file amicus brief to support FTC lawsuit against Qualcomm

Earlier in January this year US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a lawsuit against Qualcomm for anti-competitive practices. Now, Intel and Samsung have filed amicus briefs with the court supporting the FTC’s lawsuit and opposing Qualcomm’s request to dismiss the case. Both the companies claim that Qualcomm uses its dominant position in the mobile processor industry to keep other players out. Samsung introduced its Z4, a budget Tizen OS smartphone running the latest Tizen OS 3.0 last week targeted at first-time smartphone users. Today it has officially launched the smartphone in India. It has a 4.5-inch WVGA  2.5D curved glass display, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, has a 5-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash arranged on either sides of the camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash for taking better selfies in low lighting conditions. Meizu just launched M5, its latest smartphone in the ‘M series’ in India. It was introduced in China back in October last year and packs a 5.2-inch HD 2.5D curved glass screen, is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 processor and runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) based FlyMe OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, phase-detection auto-focus (PDAF) that lets you focus in just 0.2 seconds and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Last week a presentation slide from China surfaced showing some details of the Moto X 2017 that is said to release as Moto X4. Now another slide shows entire Motorola’s 2017 roadmap that lists some specifications of Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z2 Force, Moto X4, Moto G5S, Moto G5S Plus, Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus, Moto C and Moto C Plus smartphones. Apple reportedly acquires AI firm Lattice Data for $200 million

Apple has been focused on AI for sometime and it looks like it is bolstering its efforts further. According to a new report from TechCrunch, Apple has acquired  Lattice Data, a company that specializes in artificial intelligence. The deal which was closed a couple of weeks ago is slated at $200 million. The report also said that about 20 engineers have joined the larger company.
