Samsung today announced that it has started mass production of world’s first 2nd-generation of 10-nanometer-class* (1y-nm), LPDDR4X (Low Power, Double Data Rate, 4X) DRAM for smartphones. Compared to the mobile DRAM memory chips most used in current flagship mobile devices (1x-nm 16Gb LPDDR4X), the 2nd– generation LPDDR4X DRAM promises up to a 10% power reduction while maintaining the same data rate of 4,266 megabits per second (Mb/s). LG Electronics has reported revenues of 15.02 trillion won (US$ 13.9 billion) for the second quarter that ended June 30, 2018, which is up 3.2% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 771 bilion won (US$ 715.1 million), up 16.1% YoY, while net profit was down to 326.5 billion won (US$ 291.6 million) from 514.9 billion won, down 36.5% YoY. First-half 2018 sales and operating profits were at all-time record highs. Revenues increased 3.2% from the 2017 first half to 30.14 trillion won (US$ 28 billion) and operating income rose 18.5% to 1.88 trillion won (US$ 1.7 billion). The company has reported a total revenue of $13,231 million with a 42% growth compared to the $9,321 million from the same time last year. Qualcomm Incorporated today announced results for its fiscal third quarter ended June 24, 2018. The company has reported a revenue of $5.6 billion compared to $5.4 billion from the same time last year. This is a good 4% improvement YoY. Qualcomm’s operating income comes to around $0.9 billion versus the $0.8 billion from Q3 Fiscal 2017 and is a 20% growth.
