Why the Nokia N8 is still the best camera phone !

When I was traveling in the US last month , I was carrying the N8 and it turned to replace my digicam.  I forgot my digicam at home and I was lazy to lug around by SLR. I clicked these pics with my N8 and makes me think that that N8 is still the best camera phone in the market. Check out the pics and let me know what you think.

Apple iWork Apps – Pages , Numbers and Keynote now available for iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple has finally launched the iWork for the iPhone and iPod Touch. iWork for the iPad has been around for quite some time and iWork for the iPhone has been expected for a long time. Apple surprised us by announcing the public availability of Pages (Word Processing)  ,  Numbers  (Spreadsheet) and Keynote (Presentation ) for the iPhone. The apps are priced at $9.99 each and free for existing iWork for iPad users. The apps are compatible with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch (3rd gen and 4th gen).

Steve Jobs to unveil iOS 5 , iCloud and Mac OS Lion at WWDC 2011 on June 6 2011

Looks like Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be presenting the keynote at the company’s annual developer conference (WWDC) which is set to start on June 6th 2011.  We would see the next version of iPhone OS – iOS5 which powers the iPad , iPod Touch and the iPhone.  There is no mention of a new iPhone but I’m sure we can expect some surprise. There is also a mention of iCloud which is expected to a cloud computing based service from Apple.

Apple iPad2 Unboxing

Most of you might know that I have been in traveling in USA during most of this month. Although the iPad 2 was sold out in most places,  I managed to grab an Apple iPad 2 – 64GB WiFi+3G Model from an Apple Store in New York City. This was the 5th store i had tried in 3 cities. The iPad 2 is much lighter than the first iPad and you will notice this as soon as you start using the device. I picked up the white version just because it seemed different.

Alaska Airlines replaces heavy paper flight manuals with the iPad

Alaska Airlines has become the first US Airline ( or first airline in the world according to my knowledge) to replace heavy paper flight manuals with the Apple iPad. This means that Airline pilots will only have to carry a 700 gram iPad (assuming it’s the iPad2 WiFi version) in place of over 11 kilos of paper manuals.

HTC Incredible S Gingerbread update rolling out in India

Looks like HTC is keeping up it’s promise of delivering the Gingerbread update – Android 2.3.3 to the Incredible S. A reader said that he saw the update available via OTA and he could successfully install it.

Nokia says that it’s finally shipping the C2-00 Dual SIM phone

Nokia has today announced that it’s finally shipping the Dual SIM C2-00 this quarter in markets such as India, China, Africa and Brazil which are developing markets. We got our hands on the phone at CommunicAsia in June 2010 and we don’t know what took Nokia so long to get this phone out in the market when the likes of Micromax and Karbonn churn out new Dual SIM phones every month. Samsung Galaxy S2 now Available on Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK just informed me that the Galaxy S2 superphone is now available on it’s network in the United Kingdom. Users can get the handset for free on a 2 year contract which starts at 40 GBP per month.You would have to pay upto 299 pounds for the handset on cheaper plans. HTC expands in Asia-Pacific region as it appoints heads of North and South Asia

HTC with it’s quietly brilliant tagline has been silently expanding in Asia as many users flock to the Android Operating system. HTC also makes Windows 7 Phones . Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and China will fit under North Asia headed by Jack Tong . Lennard Hoornik will be heading HTC South Asia Pacific which includes Singapore, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippine, Australia and New Zealand.

Google launches Music Beta Cloud based Audio Streaming service

Google finally launched it’s much anticipated Music streaming service Google Music in Beta. The service was announced at Google I/O and will be available only on a invitational basis for users in the US. The service comes with the Music Manager software for Windows and Mac which lets you upload all your music from your computer to the cloud. BlackBerry Playbook finally getting Native Email , Calendar and Contacts this Summer

RIM just officially announced that the PlayBook is finally getting Native Email. This was one of the most criticized features of the device and RIM was blamed for ignoring this feature at the time of launch 2 weeks ago. As expected RIM gave an answer today at Blackberry World that the device is getting an update this summer which will bring native email , calendar and contacts. As of now , you need to use Blackberry Bridge and connect to a Blackberry handset via Bluetooth to get access to email on the device. Bing to be Default Search Engine on BlackBerry devices

Wow , what a surprise , at the BlackBerry World keynote today. Joining RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis was Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to announce a strategic partnership with RIM. Bing will be the Default Search Engine on all Blackberry Devices. We also saw a mention of Bing Maps which confirms that Bing will also be integrated deeply into the BlackBerry OS. Microsoft showed a video promo of the integration which we will be uploading soon.  We also saw a demo of Bing Search on a Torch 9800 and it looks inspired by the Metro UI by Windows Phone 7
