Here we the have first unboxing  of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 (at least from this side of the planet ) .  The handset was launched in India today as we told you before and we have managed to get hold of a handset for the unboxing just  for you ! The handset is powered by a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and sports a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen along with a full QWERTY keyboard. The phone is powered by BlackBerry OS 7.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Price Revealed for India

BlackBerry India is gearing up to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in India tomorrow and the unofficial price has been revealed by multiple sources.Online retailer LetsBuy just sent a press release that the site is selling the Bold 9900 for Rs.31500 , not a bad asking price for a brand new BlackBerry handset hitting the market.

BlackBerry Torch 2 and Storm 3 launched as Torch 9810 and 9850/9860

At an event in London today , Research in Motion , makers of Blackberry handsets unveiled 3 new devices including the much rumoured Torch2 – Blackberry Torch 9810. RIM has done away with the Storm branding and launched 2 news Touch-only handsets the Torch 9850 and 9860 for. All these handsets run on the latest version of BlackBerry OS BB 7.  The phones have a lot in common such as a 1.2GHz processor and a liquid graphics display. Find the press release below.

Samsung Galaxy SL I9003, Galaxy Tab 3G and WiFi models getting Gingerbread update soon

Samsung Russia has announced that it’s entire line of Galaxy products are getting the Gingerbread update. While many phones have already got the update , the company has promised that it’s bringing the gingerbread update to the Galaxy Tab 3G and WiFi models and also the Galaxy SL i9003. The Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 will not get Gingerbread love but only Froyo !

IDEA 3G Speed Test

We managed to get hold of a IDEA 3G connection as the operator has silently rolled out 3G services in Chennai and Tamil Nadu. As you all might know , IDEA does not have a license in this circle and has inked a deal with Vodafone  to offer 3G services here. Our test device was the ultra fast HTC Flyer which supports HSPA networks upto 14.4 Mbps.  The moment we enabled 3G on the Flyer , we were latched on to the Vodafone network(After activation of course). The official website of Blackberry just confirmed the existence of 3 new Torch models as found on the page of a Bluetooth headset’s compatible smartphones. RIM teased on twitter yesterday about some new Blackberries getting announced today and we might be close to the announcement. The Torch 9810 , 9850 and 9860 seem like the Torch 2 for AT&T , Verizon and T-Mobile or Sprint

Barcelona to host Mobile World Congress till 2018 !

The GSM Association which is the organization behind the annual Mobile World Congress event has just announced that the event will stay in Barcelona till 2018. Mobile World Congress or MWC is our annual mobile pilgrimage where we get to play with the latest mobile phones (add tablets) .Looks like Barcelona also got the most votes in our poll when the GSMA was thinking of moving the event to another city. We would love to see the event move to another city like Milan, Munich and Paris but looks like it’s not moving anywhere atleast for then next 6 years. Visca el Barça !
