Moto G India launch rumored for last week of January

The Moto G has been expected to launch in India sometime in the first quarter of 2014 but now thanks to a report published by the Times of India, we can get a more specific time frame. The report states that the Moto G launch in India has been scheduled for the last week of January. India is slated to get the dual SIM variant of budget Android device alongside Brazil. Expected to be priced very competitively, the phone brings modest specifications in the form of a 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM and a 720p 4.5 inch display. Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5x Mi-504 Benchmarks

The Spice Smart Flo Mettle 5x is a budget device that brings a large screen experience at a very attractive price point. The phone is powered by a 1.3Ghz Dual Core MT6572 processor paired with 512MB of RAM. You get a 5 inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854. We weren’t too impressed by the day to day performance of the device and noticed more than a few lags. Nokia ‘Normandy’ Android phone prototype leaked

Rumors around Nokia’s Android device have been picking up pace lately and thanks to Sina Weibo, we can now get a glimpse of what the device might look like. Code named Normandy, the phone will slot in between the Asha and Lumia series of phones if and when it ships. Microsoft Surface 3 to be powered by Tegra K1 processor

Nvidia spilled the beans on its brand new Tegra K1 processor earlier this week at CES and it looks like the new fangled chipset will form the core of the next gen Surface RT tablet. Nvidia’s new chip dubbed the Tegra K1 sports 192 Kepler cores and has a new CPU as well. The K1 chip will ship in two variants. Either with a quad core ARM A15 CPU or a dual core 64 bit Project Denver CPU, the specifics of the latter are still somewhat murky. Purported iPhone 6 frame leaked

Its not been too long since the iPhone 5s was released but as the rumor mill goes, we’re already seeing the first hints towards what may be the next generation iPhone. Going by historical precedence, the next gen iPhone or the iPhone 6 as it might be called will be a major upgrade. Online reports suggest that Apple will finally take a leap towards a larger device keeping in mind current consumer trends.

Now, popular Chinese technology site C Technology is showing us a glimpse of what it says is a frame of the next gen iPhone. There’s not much to go on here other than an image of a frame from a pre production sample. The surprisingly slim frame lends credence to the other rumor that the next iPhone will shrink down in thickness quite substantially. It’s still very early to make any calls on the authenticity of this leak but it looks like the stars may align on a slimmer yet larger iPhone once it launches later this year.

OPlus launches XonPad 7 tablet with 1.2 Ghz Quad Core processor, 7″ display for Rs. 9,990

OPlus has partnered with Snapdeal to launch a new 7 inch tablet called the XonPad7. The tablet is powered by a 1.2Ghz Quad Core Processor built on the 28nm process which should help increase battery longevity a bit. The specifications include 1GB of RAM as well as a 3G capabilities which means that you’ll be able to pop in a SIM card and surf the internet without having to rely on WiFI connectivity. The tablet is capable of voice calling.

You also the standard WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The XonPad7 has a 5MP rear facing camera and a 2MP front facing shooter. Users get Android 4.2 onboard the tablet. There’s 16GB of storage that can be expanded thanks to the microSD card slot. The battery rated at 3,500 mAh should be good enough for over a day of usage. The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 which is just about sufficient for a 7 inch panel. Being an IPS display, viewing angles are quite decent. OPlus has partnered with Snapdeal for online distribution. The tablet is priced at Rs. 9,990.

Micromax LapTab dual boot Android and Windows 8.1 device announced

Popular budget smartphone brand, Micromax, just announced its entry into a brand new product category. At the Consumer Electronics Show, The company has announced a dual boot tablet that will join its line of products which includes smartphones, tablets and HDTVs.

Called the LapTab, the Micromax product will be powered by an Intel Atom processor. The device will run both Windows 8.1 and Android Jelly Bean so that you can switch between the two depending on your usage requirement. The rest of the specifications are fairly mid range. Xiaomi introduces portable WiFi router, to ship in a range of colors

The Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, just announced a new portable WiFi router product. Called the MI Portable WiFi, it will be available starting January 2014. There’s not much in the name of specifications as the company has only shown it off on Twitter. Xiaomi will be retailing the product in a range of six colors and there’s no word on pricing. LG G3 to feature 2k resolution display, 16MP camera and octa core chipset

About to buy yourself a new flagship device? You’d be well advised to wait a bit as it looks like the next generation is going to be another quantum leap in terms of specifications. BlackBerry partners with Foxconn to produce affordable BlackBerry 10 devices

As sales plunge, BlackBerry has announced a new partnership with Foxconn to produce BlackBerry 10 devices. The five year partnership aims to launch the first device by March or April. The BlackBerry 10 based device will be introduced first in Indonesia. The company has also earmarked six or seven additional markets for the device.
