Twitter for Android, iPhone and iPad updated with DM sync, improved search and more

Twitter has updated the apps for Android, iPhone and iPad apps that brings direct messages (DM) sync across all your devices, so when you read a DM on your a device, it will be marked as read in other devices. Twitter for Android v4.1.2, iPhone and iPad v5.8 update brings improved search results that shows expanded user result with full bio when you search for people on Twitter. It also shows similar accounts when you swipe to the left, and a new in-app indicator in search results will show you when there are new Tweets for your query. The iPhone app now has built-in Tweet composer that appears when you tap to see details.

HTC Butterfly Android 4.2.2 OTA update starts rolling out in Taiwan

HTC has announced that they have started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update (version 2.28.709.2) for the HTC Butterfly. The update brings lot of new features including the Sense 5, BlinkFeed , Video Highlights slide show function for the camera that creates a short movie from your photos and videos, AE/AF enhancements in the camera, Battery percentage in the status bar, Quick settings and lots more. Nokia Lumia 925: What’s New in the Amber Update?

We have been playing around with the Nokia Lumia 925 for a while, and had unboxed it to provide a first look of the device, but there is a lot more to talk about. While the 4.5 inch AMOLED screen, the six element lens and the new design and build are the major hardware changes from the 920, the software here is the star, called as the Nokia Amber update. The Amber update, is actually additive to the Windows Phone GDR2 release that brings some minor improvements to all Windows Phone devices. The Amber update though, brings a lot of usable improvements exclusively to Nokia Lumia devices. Lets go through every one of them.

Camera360 has partnered with Nokia to pre-install the Camera360 app on the Lumia 925, the latest Lumia smartphone. The app would come pre-loaded on the device following its sales start in China from 28th June 2013. So it is clear that only new devices would come with the app pre-installed, since we did not find the app on our device that we unboxed last month. Instagram for iPhone got a huge update last month that brought video support. Now the app has received a minor update to version 4.0.2 that lets you shoot photos or record videos in landscape orientation. When you switch your iPhone to the landscape orientation all the buttons switch automatically to the landscape mode, you can’t use the volume button as a shutter in this mode. MEGA acquires third-party app, launches official Android app

MEGA, cloud storage service from the former Megaupload creator Kim Dotcom has got its first Android app. This app was manged by a third-party developer and MEGA has acquired it, gave it a redesign, fixed some bugs and launched it in the Play Store. The version 1.0.2 update also bring better camera sync, option to select any folder on the device and several improvements. MEGA offers 50GB of free storage. Sony Mobile rolls out my Xperia remote security service globally

Sony has announced that they have started rolling out free remote security service called my Xperia for Xperia devices globally. Sony rolled it out starting from Nordic countries back in January 2013. Now after several months of beta testing and tweaks, the app has been graduated to stable version. This would let the Xperia users find the device remotely when it is lost, protect private information by locking the device or delete all the information on the device. Cleartrip for Android v3.0 update brings train ticket booking and PNR status check

Earlier this year Cleartrip refreshed its Android app with a redesigned user interface, Smart Home page, Split Screen Search, offline support and lots more new features. Within few month Cleartrip has released a version 3.0 update for Android that now lets you book your train tickets directly from the app. They don’t charge a service fee for booking train tickets, so it’s exactly as the cost you pay while booking it from IRCTC online. Similar to the Cleartrip online train ticket booking, one-time sync is required between your Cleartrip and IRCTC accounts. Skitch for iPhone and iPad v2.6 update brings adjustable canvas, better arrows and more

Evernote has updated the Skitch app for iPhone and iPad to version 2.6 that brings new features including Adjustable Canvas that lets you add room at the edges of your image, map, or screenshot. If you annotate beyond the edge of your image, the canvas will now automatically expand to give you more space. The shapes have a much smaller minimum size in this version that makes it easier to highlight only the information you want to change or clarify. The version 2.0 update for iPhone and iPad brings new formatting options and the iPad app lets you access rich formatting options easily. The Android app version 15.0 update brings option to record audio notes, Home screen widgets and lots more features.
