Facebook  5.0 beta for Windows Phone 8 users was released back in May. Now the app is finally out of beta and is available for download. This update brings lot of new features including a user interface, improved navigation, support for high-res pictures, post sharing, Facebook Timeline view, and more. Skype for Android has received a major update to version 4.0.0.17847 that brings a redesigned user interface that now looks more like the Skype Windows Phone app. The app has been completely refreshed from the ground up that makes it faster and more reliable. It gives you easy access to the recent conversations, video calls, voice calls and more. Skype says that they have concentrated more on stability, performance, and load time. The new update also offers unlimited video messaging that was available in for the v4.9 update for the iPhone and iPad. HTC One Android 4.2.2 OTA update starts rolling out in Taiwan

The dual SIM version of the HTC One got the Android 4.2.2 update (version 2.17.1402.2) in China last week, now the international version of the HTC One has receive the Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) update in Taiwan. The update brings lot of new features including a new lock screen widget, quick settings panel, battery level indicator in the status bar and lots more new features. Vine for Android v1.2 update brings option to use front-facing camera

Twitter has update the Vine app for Android that finally brings option to use the front-facing camera to record videos. You can now click the camera switch button in the recording mode to switch the camera. The Vine for iPhone got this feature the version 1.1 update last month. This update also brings new upload manager for unsubmitted posts, improvements in settings and faster camera loading time. Facebook begins Android Beta Program, v3.4 Beta brings new features

Facebook has started their first Android Beta Program that would let the beta testers to test the app before it is released for everyone. The version 3.4 beta for Android brings new features for Both the Facebook app and the Facebook Home including option to share News Feed stories in a private message, Option to organize your apps with folders in Facebook Home and lots more. Firefox Beta for Android updated with new Awesome Bar, updated RSS feed reader and more

Firefox has updated the beta version of the Android app to version 23 that brings lot of new features. The Awesome Bar now automatically hides while not in use, to make your entire small screen available for browsing. It also includes domain autocomplete, which will complete your URL destination as you type. The update also lets you add default search provider directly from the add-ons manager and adds updated RSS feed reader to create a simple way to subscribe to an RSS feed. The update also brings support for Turkish and Hungarian locales.

Age of Empires to land on iOS and Android in 2013, more first party games later

In a landmark change to the mobile gaming scenario, Microsoft has decided to bring some of its hugely popular first party titles to iOS and Android beginning with the Age of Empires in 2013. This is facilitated thanks to a license agreement by Microsoft with Klab, a mobile game developer in Japan which plans to port Age of Empires within this year to iOS and Android.

Facebook adds Like Button sticker in Messenger for Android, iPhone and iPad

Facebook has started rolling out Like button sticker for the Android and iOS apps in Messaging. This works on both Facebook app and the separate Facebook Messenger app. This lets you send a quick Thumbs Up symbol to others in on tap quickly. This would be definitely useful to quickly reply with a Like button instead of a long message to accept something. Facebook says that this feature is part of a recent update, according to Techcrunch. Vine for Android updated with better Search, Facebook sharing and more

Twitter released the Vine video sharing app for Android earlier this month. The app has been updated to version 1.1 that brings option to search for people and hashtags and  ability to share to Facebook . This also improves the capture speed, quality and better audio/video sync. It also has several bug fixes and UI improvements, says the changelog. Option to use the phone’s front-facing camera and option to tag people in your post are not available yet. Vine 1.1 for iPhone got an update last month that brought option to use the front-facing camera to record videos and tagging function. Disney’s Monsters University game now available on Android and iOS

Monsters University, the fun animated prequel to the Monsters Inc. movie that released a long time back, has just landed in theatres worldwide today and co-inciding with the release is a brand new game from Disney – Monsters University(yes, the same name as the movie) for iOS and Android. The game features two mini games inside it, and promises to bring more mini games in future updates. It is available for download on the iTunes app store for iOS and the Google Play Store for Android.

Whatsapp crosses 250 million active users, bigger than Twitter

Whatsapp, one of the most popular online messaging services, has revealed a very important statistic to the Wall Street Journal that it has crossed 250 million active monthly users, which is incidentally bigger than Twitter which recently announced 200 million monthly active users. This makes Whatsapp one of the largest messaging platforms. In comparison, Skype has 280 million monthly active users, and for a 4 year old company such as Whatsapp, a number close to that is actually a great achievement.
