Xiaomi, popular for its Mi series of smartphones in China was rumored to launch a tablet last year, but it didn’t happen. A device codenamed Xiaomi HM 1AC has surfaced on GFXBench with some specifications. According to the benchmarks, it would have a 9.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and run on custom MiUI ROM based on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Huawei is a company known to push boundaries as they were the first to introduce a 6inch + device in the form of Huawei Ascend Mate. Ever since, they have been lagging behind other Chinese manufacturers, but things are looking good now. Chinese manufacturer Oppo was the first company to come up with a 5inch Full HD smartphone in the form of Oppo Find 5 and they would have wanted to continue the being first in displays race with the Oppo Find 7, but that wasn’t the case. Vivo XPlay 3S is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 2K display sporting a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. According to rumors, Huawei also has plants to compete in the pixel race and is reportedly working on its own version of a 2K display smartphone.

Oppo Find 5 was the first Full HD smartphone and Oppo had hoped they would be the first to announce a 2K display phone in the form of Oppo Find 7 at CES 2014 earlier this year, but things did not go according to their plan and they are yet to announce the Oppo Find 7. Oppo has set the announcement of Oppo Find 7 for March 19 and we look forward to that day.

We all know that HTC would unveil the all new HTC One 2014 (M8) on March 25th. We had already seen several leaks earlier, but the smartphone has appeared on a 12-minute long video that was supposed to be taken on February 19th. The video shows off the phone aluminium uni-body design, as teased by HTC in new videos and also reveal a micro SD card slot on the side of the phone. Oppo had teased about their upcoming flagship – Find 7, sometime before the CES 2014, but they did not showcase the 2K display device at CES 2014. Now, just before the MWC 2014, we are having leaks of the Oppo Find 7 and there is so information to be taken in before you read further. Rumors point to two variants of Find 7 and one variant will have a 2K QHD display while the other variant will bear a Full HD display.
Huawei is expected to unveil Ascend G6, a mid-range smartphone at the MWC 2014 next week. Today, evleaks leaked the press image of the phone. HTC”s sales are slumping and profits dropping and things are not looking good for the once very successful Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. HTC Desire 8 is a mid-range device headed for the Chinese market and the rumored HTC A5 may be the international variant of the HTC Desire 8. HTC Desire 8 is expected to be unveiled on February 24th in China and we are expecting to see the HTC A5 at the upcoming MWC 2014.

Intel is the company everybody knew because of processors that still power the everyday PCs and laptops. But the sales of PCs and laptops has been outdone by the sales of smartphones and tablets. People are moving on and portable devices are the new thing. Intel has been producing chips for the smartphones and tablets, but it hasn’t earned much of a consideration from the manufacturers who seem to be more than content with ARM based SoCs. Intel has to fight hard to survive this battle and looks like they are having another go at the smartphone and tablet market in the upcoming MWC 2014.
