Spice Mobility, one of the popular Indian retailers has launched the first two AndroidLand stores in India. These two AndroidLand, Android branded retail experience stores are located in Koramangala, Bangalore and at The Great India Place Mall, Noida. These multi-location stores will offer Android experiences created for its customers and will showcase a comprehensive range of Android devices, services and accessories, says Spice. Firefox OS Update (1.1) brings new features, performance improvements and more

Xolo Q700i with 4.5-inch display, Android 4.2 now available for Rs. 11999

Xolo Q700i, the new Xolo phone in the Q CORE series that was spotted online earlier this week, is now available from online retailers Flipkart and Infibeam. Xolo launched the Q700 back in May, and most of the features in the Q700i are similar to the Q700.  It has a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) 16M color capacitive touch screen IPS display based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology,  powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Microsoft to release Remote Desktop apps for iOS and Android this month

Remote Desktop has been a popular feature for Windows PCs for a long time, mainly used to remotely help your friends or family, usually for troubleshooting. The Server-Client methodology has enabled the clients to exist on many platforms. In fact, the Remote Desktop Protocol is widely known to be used in third party apps, but as always, nothing comes close to the apps done by the people who created it. Microsoft are doing just that, by releasing Remote Desktop apps for iOS and Android later this month, according to the company’s own press release.

Datawind, the company behind the low-cost Aakash tablets has launched three new tablets, UbiSlate 7Cx, UbiSlate 3G7 and the UbiSlate 9Ci. The UbiSlate 7Cx is the cheapest among these, which comes with a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS). It also comes with 2G (EDGE) connectivity. The UbiSlate 3G7 also has a 7-inch capactive touch screen display, powered by  a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on Android 4.0 (ICS). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It also has 3G data connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth support. We have had the Apple iPhone 5s with us for a while now. You might have seen us mention in the 5s Dock Unboxing that we had picked up a couple of accessories for the device from the Hong Kong Apple Store and the Yellow leather case is one of them. Amkette has launched Metal and Solo, new speakers in the Trubeats range along with the Free Spirit and Slix headphones in India. The Amkette Metal is designed to produce the loudest sound from possibly the smallest space, while the Solo range is a colorful range aimed at youth segment. The Metal is Bluetooth-enabled speakers which also has a built in microphone so that you can answer calls when it’s connected to a phone. Solo is a ultra-portable speakers which connects to devices over a 3.5mm audio jack and the Solo Wireless has Bluetooth connectivity. The Solo series also has bass amplification tunnel. HTC has officially launched the Desire 500, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the Desire series. It went on sale in India online earlier this week and packs a 4.3-inch  (480 × 800 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) with Sense 5.  It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash and BSI sensor and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor. MediaTek licenses ARM Cortex-A50 Series CPUs and new Mali GPUs

MediaTek has announced that they have acquired a broad license to Cortex-A50 Series processor cores and the next generation of ARM Mali Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) solutions. MediaTek already uses ARM Coretex A7, Cortex A9 and Cortex A15 CPUs for their quad-core and dual-core chips. The company recently announced a True Octa-Core chip solution and also revealed MT8135 quad-core chip based on ARM big.LITTLE and with PowerVR Series6 GPU. Twitter for Windows Phone updated with Dark Theme option and Lock Screen highlights

It’s been a while since the official Twitter for Windows Phone app got its updates. It had unsurprisingly missed the conversation thread update iOS and Android received. While that feature has still evaded the platform, we have news of an update for the app. The app now arguably brings more choices and interesting changes to the Twitter experience on your Windows Phone. Most notable of the new additions are the new dark theme option and lock screen highlights. Users can now choose between a light and dark theme and have Twitter set as the lock screen picture(using Windows Phone 8’s unique feature) to show recent highlights from your feed.

Vodafone plans to increase its stake in the Indian unit


Vodafone in planning to buy out minority shareholders in its Indian arm for about US$2 billion, according to a recent report from the Financial Times. Vodafone owns about 64% of Vodafone India. Piramal Healthcare run by Billionaire industrialist Ajay Piramal has 11% stake and the remaining 25% stake is controlled by undisclosed minority shareholders.
