LG has started sending press invites for the launch of its next flagship G series smartphone next month. The invite just says See the Great. Feel the Great with G highlighted using LG’s logo used for G series smartphones. There are several events worldwide, similar to LG G3 launch events. The event takes place in New York, London and Paris simultaneously on April 28th, Tuesday and events in Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul are scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th. MediaTek Helio X and P series SoCs for high-end smartphones announced

MediaTek recently announced its new chips for high-end smartphones under the new name Helio. The Helio X is aimed at top-end smartphones promising extreme performance and the Helio P series means premium performance, says MediaTek. The Helio X10 (MT6795W) is the first SoC in the X series, offering True Octa Core experience at 2.2GHz per core. It uses 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores and also has integrated LTE. Worldwide wearable device shipments to reach 45.7 million in 2015: IDC

The International Data Corporation (IDC) has released a new forecast that reveals the expected wearable device shipments in this year as 45.7 million unit, up 133.4% from the 19.6 million units shipped in 2014. It will reach 126.1 million units by 2019, up 45.1%, says IDC. The total volume of smart wearables will reach 25.7 million units in 2015, up a 510.9% from the 4.2 million units shipped in 2014, it adds. It has a 4-inch WVGA screen, is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 03-megapixel VGA rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. It has 3G connectivity and dual SIM support. It also becomes one of the cheapest smartphones with 4-inch display, Android Kitkat, 512MB RAM and 3G support. Sony Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet Android 5.0 update to roll out next week, coming to Xperia C3 and T2 Ultra soon

Earlier this month Sony announced that it has started rolling out Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) update for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones starting from Nordics and Baltics. It also promised to offer Lollipop updates for more Xperia Z Series devices in around two weeks. Today the company has announced that it has started rolling out the update for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones in more regions worldwide. It has also started rolling out the Lollipop update for the Z3 Tablet Compact. Asus Zenfone 2 launching in India in the last week of April

Asus has finally announced that the company’s most expected Zenfone 2 smartphone will be available in India in the last week of April. It has not announced if it is bringing all the Zenfone 2 variants to India. There are three variants of the Zenfone 2 – ZE500CL and ZE550ML have HD displays and 2GB RAM. while the ZE551ML model comes with 5.5-inch 1080p display and 2GB or 4GB RAM. HTC One M9+ press renders surface ahead of launch

HTC recently announced the More than One event in China on April 8th, where it is expected to announced the One M9+ smartphone. Dummy and unofficial render of the smartphone surfaced last month, now @upleaks has leaked new press shots of the smartphone. As you see, the design of the smartphone is similar to the One M9, but it will feature a physical home button that also act as a fingerprint sensor. Asus Zenfone 2 USB OTG and Miracast Demo

We unboxed the Zenfone 2 ZE500C, showed off the Zen UI based on Android Lollipop and gameplay demo recently. The Zenfone 2 ZE500CL has a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor. The smartphone has Miracast screen mirroring support and also supports USB OTG. Here is a demo video that shows both these features.

Lava Iris 444, the latest smartphone in the Iris series is now available from Flipkart. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, is powered by a 1GHz processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. Lava NKS 101 is a variant of the XTRON MEGA that surfaced last month with the same 10.1-inch HD display, but it has a larger 7200mAh battery. TRAI releases consultation paper to regulate OTT services like WhatsApp, Skype and others

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has finally released consultation paper on Regulatory Framework for Over-the-top (OTT) services seeking comments of all stakeholders. After reports that TRAI is planning to implement charges for over-the-top (OTT) players of apps like WhatsApp, Viber, Skype etc. it rejected the proposal of carriers to make OTT players that offer these services share part of their revenue with them or the government. Airtel announced VoIP packs for Skype, Viber and others back in December, but it decided not to implement it soon after.

HTC One E9 got certified in China recently, now the HTC One E9+ has appeared on the official website in China. According to the listing, the One E9+ comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, is powered by a 2GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6795M processor and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with Sense UI on top.
