Even though there are lot of Indian competitors such as Maxx mobiles, Micromax, Karbon  etc in the Dual SIM category, Nokia lead in the market share. NTT DOCOMO to launch GALAXY Tab 10.1 LTE and ARROWS Tab LTE in Japan

NTT DOCOMO has announced that they would launch the docomo Tablet GALAXY Tab 10.1 LTE SC-01D and the docomo Tablet ARROWS Tab LTE F-01D. These are the first tablets compatible with its extra-high-speed next-generation LTE service, Xi (Crossy). Both these tablets come with 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) displays and features dual core CPUs running on Android 3.2. Airtel has launched their 3G services in Tripura. Airtel 3G services are now available in 50 plus towns across India. Airtel 3G services would be available for customers in Agartala starting midnight on 6th September 2011.

Chinese Search Engine Giant Baidu announces Android-based Yi OS for Mobile

Chinese search engine giant Baidu enters into the Mobile OS market with its Yi OS that is based on Android.  It was announced at Baidu World event in Beijing and it includes several Baidu apps such as Ting, their social music service, Shen Bian app similar to Google places, maps and a book-reading app. The core features such as integrated voice search would remain the same. Vodafone has launched their Facebook phone, Vodafone Blue in India. This phone is developed in collaboration with Facebook that has the qualities of a smartphone and social networking functions. The phone was announced in UK this July. This phone has dedicated F button that lets the user upload pictures, visit profiles and update status at a single click. Intel to discontinue MeeGo development ? Not so fast !

Rumors are rife that Intel plans to discontinue MeeGo development following the rather tepid market response to hardware based on fledgling OS. Digitimes reports that Intel is planning to “temporarily discontinue development of its MeeGo OS” . If Intel backs down from the OS it would mean the end of the linux based operating system from a commercial point of view and would be relegated to being a hobbyist OS at best.

Philips Xenium X806 Dual SIM Phone launching in India on Sep 7

Heard of Philips Mobile Phones ? They were available quite a while ago and we have not heard from them in a while now. The Xenium range of phones are popular in Europe and Russia for their exceptional battery life. Looks like the company is making a comeback into India or at least testing the waters again as we got an invited to a launch event happening on September 7th.Interestingly the invite comes from Conplex Telecom India. From the looks of the phone in the invite we are placing our bets on the Xenium X806 which is a Dual SIM phone with 1 month standby time and around 8 hours of talk time.
