Windows Phone 8 Review

Back in 2010 when Microsoft introduced its brand new take on the smartphone dubbed Windows Phone, it was a brand new take on how a smartphone should work. Gone was the desktop-inspired UI and the inherent sluggishness, dependence on stylus input. The new and improved OS was designed ground up for a more modern world but inside was ticking the same core which brought along with it several limitations. Today we have yet another reboot but this time with a brand new core while retaining the best of and improving on the rest of the experience.

In our Windows Phone 8 preview we touched upon some of the more obvious changes in the OS.  We’ll be taking a look at those in addition to the MANY other new features in the OS in a step by step manner below. Nokia launches Nokia Music Store operator billing on Vodafone in India


Nokia brought Nokia Store Operator billing on Vodafone and Airtel earlier this year, now the operator billing service is available for the  Nokia Music Store on Vodafone. The operator billing is available for the Music Store on the Nokia Asha phones that would let the users renew their subscriptions via their Vodafone pre-paid or post-paid account and continue to download unlimited songs and albums from the Nokia Music Store. Nokia already offers subscription purchase via credit cards and vouchers, with this Nokia Music Store becomes the first independent music store in the country to offer integrated operator billing. Aircel iPhone 5 Plans


Apple iPhone 5 is launching in India today. Aircel has announced their iPhone 5 plans for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers. The pricing for the iPhone 5 in India and the launch date was revealed last week. The iPhone 5 is priced at Rs.45,500 for the 16GB, Rs.52,500 for the 32GB and Rs. 59,500 for the 64GB version. The iPhone 5 is launching in India today. Airtel has announced their iPhone 5 plans for both the pre-paid and post-paid customers in India. HTC Windows Phone 8S launched in India for Rs. 19,260


HTC has launched the Windows Phone 8S, their new Windows Phone 8 device in India as they said last week. It was announced in September and packs in a 4-inch (800x 480 pixels) super LCD display, 1 GHz dual-core processor Snapdragon S4 processor and a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording. HTC Desire SV gets priced at Rs. 22590, available in India this month


HTC India has announced that the Desire SV that was announced today would go on sale in India this month (November). The HTC Desire SV has a 4.3 inch (480 x 800) pixels capacitive touch screen display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is upgradable to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has 8 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED Flash, Dual SIM and Beats Audio support. It also comes with 25GB free Dropbox storage that is valid for 2 years. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sales cross 3 million units

Samsung has announced that they have sold over 3 million units of Galaxy Note 2 globally. Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note II at IFA in August and launched it in South Korea and India at the end of September. LG Optimus Vu Review

Micromax has launched 2 new Android Smartphone, A110 Superfone Canvas 2 and A90S Superfone Pixel with a 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Micromax A110 pre-booking started last month and it went on sale in India last week, while the A90S is looks similar to the A90 that we reviewed in August. Lenovo launches 5 Android Smartphones in India, priced between Rs. 6499 and Rs. 28499

Lenovo has launched 5 new Android Smartphones, K860, S880, S560, P700i and A60+ in India as we reported previously. The K860 is the high-end Smartphone with a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, Android 4.0 and a 5-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) IPS display, while the A60+ is their affordable entry-level Smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch display, Android 2.3 and a 1 GHz processor. Karbonn A21 and A9+ with 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.0 officially launched

Karbonn has officially launched their Karbonn Smart A21 and A9+ Android Smartphones under Duple Series. Both these smartphones showed up online last month. These are powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The A21 has a 4.5-inch (540 x 960 pixels) qHD multi-touch capacitive touch screen, while the A9+ has a 4.0-inch (480 × 800 pixels) IPS display. Nokia 109 affordable entry-level phone announced

Nokia has announced Nokia 109 that is affordable and aimed at young and urban consumers. It has similar features as the Dual SIM 110 that was announced in May including a 1.8-inch (128 x 160 pixels) TFT display, VGA camera, 32 GB microSD card support, GPRS/EDGE connectivity, Bluetooth v2.1 with EDR, 3.5 mm AV connector and FM Radio with recording. It has Loud and clear inbuilt speaker that offers audio output up to 103 phons. Tata Docomo launches Fujitsu F-074 Waterproof Android Smartphone for Rs. 21,900

Tata Docomo has launched Fujitsu F-074 Waterproof Android Smartphone in India. It was unveiled in Japan as ARROWS μ F-07D on NTT Docomo in Japan last year. It has a 4.0-inch (480 × 800 pixels) AMOLED display and is powered by a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon S2 processor. It runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and has a 5MP auto focus camera at the back. Nokia Lumia 510 gets priced at Rs.9999 on Flipkart (Updated)

Nokia Lumia 510 that was announced last week in India is priced at online retailer Flipkart and is available for purchase for Rs. 9999. It is the most affordable Windows Phone device till date, pushing the Lumia 610 to the second place. It has a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display and runs on Windows Phone 7.5 OS, which is upgradable to Windows Phone 7.8. It is powered by a 800 MHz Snapdragon S1 processor and comes with a 5MP auto focus camera with VGA video recording at 30fps. Airtel launches Network Experience Centre in Gurgaon

Airtel has launched Network Experience Centre (NEC), first of its kind facility in India. It was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Shri Kapil Sibal and is based in Manesar (Gurgaon). It would let Airtel monitor their networks spanning across Mobile, DSL Broadband, M-Commerce, DTH, Enterprise Services and International Cables across its India and South Asia from a single location.
