Xolo has officially launched the Xolo Play Tegra Note, the company’s first Tegra 4-powered tablet in India officially, as it promised last week. It was announced back in September as NVIDIA Tegra Note and went on pre-order through online retail stores in India last week. It packs a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with support for NVIDIA DirectStylus technology and also comes with a stylus pen. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU with 72 Core NVIDIA GeForce GPU and runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It would get OTA updates directly from NVIDIA. The Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) would be available sometime in Q1 2014. It has dual front-facing speakers, Bass reflex port for better clarity and extended frequency range up to 12kHz.

Sony starts rolling out Android 4.3 Jellybean to Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra

Sony has been one of those companies which has always given a timeline for its Android updates. While other manufacturers are busy working on Android 4.4 KitKat for their flagship devices, Sony is silently pushing relatively minor Android 4.3 Jellybean update to two of its top of the shelf products – Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Core Advance, a new smartphone in the Galaxy series and the successor of Galaxy Core that was launched earlier this year. It has a 4.7-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Nokia Lumia 1520 launched in India for Rs. 46999

Nokia has finally launched the Lumia 1520, the company’s latest smartphones in the Lumia series in India, as they promised last week. It was unveiled back in October and packs a 6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD touch screen IPS ClearBlack display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection, powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Windows Phone 8 with the latest GDR3 with Lumia Black update. It packs a 20-megapixel autofocus rear camera with new oversampling technology, ZEISS optics with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and  dual LED flash. LG Gx with 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 600 processor announced

LG has announced the LG Gx in Korea. This has similar specifications as the LG Optimus G Pro, but this is slightly different in its design and comes with 2.6GHz LTE support. It packs a 5.5-inch (1920×1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display, powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm  Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). LG G2 to receive Android 4.4 KitKat later this month

LG has been a little bit late in bringing software updates to its Android smartphone series, but things seemed to have changed for the South Korean manufacturer. When Google announced their latest and greatest version of Android – 4.4 KitKat in November, few people were ebullient, few were skeptical and a whole lot had only one question – “When is it coming to my phone?”. LG G2 is LG’s current flagship smartphone and rightly so, LG is giving it the treatment it deserves. Just over a 50 days since the launch of Android 4.4 KitKat, LG are announcing that the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be coming to LG G2 at the end of this month, but only in South Korea for now.

Xolo Q1000 Opus that went on pre-order in India online recently, is now available from online retailer Infibeam. It comes with a 5-inch (854 ×480 pixels) FWVGA capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom (BCM23550) processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, LED flash and 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes with dual SIM support with dual standby.

Remember Notion Ink with their innovative but quirky Android tablet that incorporated a Pixel Qi display? Roughly 3 years later they’re back in action with the Notion Ink Adam II. Google and LG fixing hardware issues with Nexus 5 with minor redesign

Google’s Nexus 5 is one great phone for its price and currently it is Google’s best smartphone in the market. Google is giving all the attention that this handset, manufactured by LG, demands. Earlier, when the phone was launched, people claimed that the camera was not up to the mark as Google had widely advertised the camera on the Nexus 5. Then there were reports from users that the loudspeaker audio isn’t that great and that the physical buttons on the sides are not that great and clunky.

Steve Mollenkopf to be the next Qualcomm CEO

Qualcomm today announced that Steve Mollenkopf will be the next CEO of Qualcomm. Mollenkopf is currently employed as the Chief Operating Officer at the company. The announcement comes at an interesting time when Microsoft is said to have been pursuing Mollenkopf as a potential successor to Steve Ballmer. He would have joined an interesting line up of potential successors to the Microsoft throne including Ford CEO Alan Mulally, VMWare CEO Pat Gelsinger and Microsoft’s own Head of Business Development, Satya Nadella.
