Apple wins EU trademark case preventing Xiaomi from trademarking Mi Pad in Europe

Apple has successfully stopped Xiaomi from trademarking Mi Pad tablet in Europe as an EU trademark as the name was too similar to Apple’s iPad. The European Union’s second-highest court, the General Court has ruled against Xiaomi and said that it should not register as a trademark. Xiaomi just announced the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphone at an event in China as it had promised. The Redmi 5 has a 5.7-inch HD+ 18:9 full-screen display, is powered by Snapdragon 450 and packs a 3300mAh battery, while the Redmi 5 Plus comes with a 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 full-screen display, is powered by Snapdragon 625 and packs a 4000mAh battery. Both these run Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with MIUI 9.

The V30+ comes with 128GB storage compared to 64GB on the V30.  It has a 6-inch (1440 × 2880 pixels) QHD+ OLED FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio and narrow bezels, is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform and runs Android 7.1.2 (Nougat) with LG UX 6.0+, which is upgradable to Android 8.0 (Oreo).
