Xiaomi Mi3 went on sale in India yesterday. The Indian variant runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) out of the box with MIUI ROM on top. Today the unit has received a major update to version KXDMIBE18.0 that brings new features, optimizations and fixes. This is a global update for the Mi3 that is already available in Malaysia, Philippines and more countries, where it launched the smartphone. Spice Retail has launched Stellar 520 and Stellar 526, two new smartphones in the Stellar series. Both these smartphones have a 5-inch HD display and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). The Stellar 520 is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Stellar 526 packs a 1.5 GHz Hexa-Core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 3.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Flipkart, the big daddy of the Indian e-commerce is about to get bigger. The company has raised eye popping $1 billion (Rs. 6000 Crore) in the latest round of funding from new and existing investors, according to a report from the Economic Times.

The company is expected to make a strategic announcement tomorrow according to an invite which just landed in our inbox. The invite reads “it’s incredible, it’s fast, it’s about to strike”. Panasonic has launched P41 and P61, two new smartphones in P Series. It also officially launched the T41 that went on sale recently. The P41 has a 5-inch qHD display and the P61 comes with a 6-inch HD display. Both these smartphones are powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and comes with 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. BlackBerry has reduced the price of a range of QWERTY smartphones in India that includes the Q5, 9720 and the Curve 9320. The BlackBerry Q5 that was launched in India back in July last year for Rs. 24,990 got a price cut to Rs. 19,990 earlier this year. It is now available for Rs. 13990. The BlackBerry 9720 that was launched in India for Rs. 15,990 last September has got a price cut to Rs. 11,990. The BlackBerry Curve 9320 that was launched back in 2012 for Rs. 15990 has got a price cut to Rs. 9900.

Xolo launched the Win Q990s, it’s first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone last month as the lightness Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Today the company has unveiled the Android variant of the smartphone called Q900s. It has a 4.7-inch qHD display instead of 4.7-inch HD display on the Win Q900s and this runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) that is upgradable to Android 4.4 (KitKat). It was announced last month and packs a 5.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD TRILUMINOS Display for mobile with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8228) processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). One of the major uncertainties regarding the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 3 (our review) smartphone was whether the phone was protected by Gorilla Glass or not. This has been a confusion ever since the company launched its India specific page, but thankfully, @MiIndiaOfficial, the official Twitter account of the company has clarified that all the Mi 3s in India have Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the screen. The clarification puts an end to all the speculation that surrounded the screen’s protective capabilities, as Gorilla Glass has been known to be very tough, since its inception.

Asus launched the Zenfone series in India that includes the Zenfone 4 that starts at Rs. 5,999 for the Asus Zenfone 4 (A400CG) variant. We already reviewed the Zenfone 5 and brought you the unboxing of the Zenfone 6 last week. The Zenfone 4 (A400CG) is the base variant in the Zenfone lineup. Lenovo has launched S850, a new smartphone is the S Series in India. It was unveiled at MWC earlier this year and packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Lenovo’s custom UI on top. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel fixed-focus front-facing camera. It also comes with dual SIM support and comes pre-loaded with Lenovo Premium DOit Apps (SHAREit, SYNCit and SECUREit) apps.

Xiaomi launched the Mi3 smartphone in India for Rs. 13,999 last week. It went on sale for priority customers and Flipkart first customers yesterday. Today it went on sale for everyone those who have registered till yesterday, 21st July. Xiaomi India already announced that only limited stocks would be available and over 100,000 people have registered for today’s sale.
