Huawei Ascend Mate now available in India for Rs. 28900


Huawei Ascend Mate, the company’s latest flagship smartphone is now available in India from online retailer Infibeam. It was spotted on Flipkart along with a price tag earlier this week, but the page was removed later. It packs a 6.1-inch 720p display, powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s EmotionUI 1.5 on top. Indian Railways to introduce SMS-based ticket booking from July 1st

IRCTC  has announced that SMS-based ticket booking on July 1st. IRCTC would also launch the  USSD (Unstructured supplementary data) based booking soon. The designated number for booking would be unveiled later. For the SMS-based ticket service, customers need to register with their banks (26 banks are supported) to generate a Mobile Money Identifier (MMID) and a one-time password (OTP). For the menu-based USSD system, the payment can be authorized through a mobile wallet which requires mPIN. 6 tickets can be booked in a single transaction similar to the online booking. Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7-inch and Fire HD 8.9-inch tablets launched in India starting at Rs. 15999

Amazon has finally released the  Kindle Fire HD and Fire HD 8.9″ tablets in India. Both these tablets were announced last year. The Kindle Fire HD has a 7-inch (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz TI OMAP4460 Dual Core CPU. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ has a 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) display with 254 ppi. Both these tablets have Dolby audio with dual stereo speakers for immersive, virtual surround sound and Dual-band WiFi with dual-antennas / MIMO for 40% faster throughput than other tablets. Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo now available in India for Rs. 6990


Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo (GT-S5312) is now available in India from online retailers Flipkart and Snapdeal. It was announced back in April along with the Galaxy Star and was spotted on the official Samsung India website last month. The Galaxy Star was officially launched in India last month. It has a 3-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 850 MHz  processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and comes with Dual SIM support with Dual SIM Always ON that lets you receive calls on one SIM even when you are using the other one. The phone is priced at Rs. 37,500, so it comes to Rs. 27,500 after the exchange. You can also pay the amount in 6 EMI with 0% Interest on select credit cards. Back in April Samsung started offering 15% cash back on purchase of select Galaxy devices using select credit cards. It extended the cash back offer till the 31st of May for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and also announced that the offer is applicable for debit card purchases. Lenovo plans to launch sub-Rs.5000 smartphones in India

Lenovo has plans to launch devices priced below Rs 5,000 to India, according to a recent report from The Hindu Business Line. The report also says that Lenovo aims to sell 1 million smartphones in India this year. Lenovo entered into the smartphone market in India last year with launch of 5 Android smartphones priced between Rs. 6499 and Rs. 28499. The company launched range of smartphones, A390, A706, S820, P780, S920 and K900 last week priced between Rs. 8689 and Rs. 32999. The reason behind this new move is their shrinking PC business. Lava to launch a new Iris smartphone with gesture user interaction in June

Lava has announced that the company plans to launch a new smartphone under the Iris brand that that can communicate with the user even in signs. Lava says, “This cool feature will allow a user to interact with the phone and use the camera with just a swipe of his hand in the air.”  The company says that this would be slimmest in its category and run on the latest version of the Android OS, 4.2 obviously.
