Micromax is launching the next major phone in the Canvas series today in New Delhi and is also broadcasting a live stream of the launch event. Micromax is expected to give us all the details of the much anticipated Canvas 4 today including the exact specifications and the market price. The phone is expected to have a interesting unlock feature and might feature a gesture based interaction.
Xolo was the first company to bring the Intel-powered Xolo X900 back in 2012. Now the company is all set to launch their flagship smartphone powered by a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. It comes with a 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display based on one-glass solution (OGS) technology and runs on Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean). It comes with a 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor, LED Flash, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Spice Coolpad 2 Mi-496, the company’s new smartphone in the Coolpad series is now available from online retailer Saholic. Spice launched the Coolpad Mi-515, the first smartphone in the Coolpad series after the Coolpad tie up last month. The Coolpad 2 has a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is likely to come with a Snapdragon 200 (MSM8625Q) processor, since the Chinese variant Coolpad 7268 comes with a similar chip. The Coolpad Mi-515 had a quad-core MediaTek MT6589M processor. iBall has launched the Slide 3G 9728, a new tablet in the Slide Performance series. LG launched the Optimus G Pro in India yesterday at a price tag of Rs. 42,500 (MRP). We got hold of the device to run some benchmarks. The device has a 5.5 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU clocked at 400 MHz and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Datawind, the company behind the popular low-cost Aakash tablet has announced a partnership with CricHQ, global cricket technology company. With this partnership, Datawind would be pre-installing the CricHQ app on all their Ubislate tablets. This app would let the users get the latest cricket scores, watch training videos and receive live ball-by-ball updates. The UbiSlate tablets come pre-loaded with NCERT e-books. Samsung launched the Galaxy Grand Duos in India earlier this year. The Galaxy Grand Quattro is the latest mid-range Android smartphone from Samsung that was launched back in May. Vodafone India has launched new Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) for its pre-paid and post-paid customers that would let them enjoy free incoming while on national roaming. Airtel announced a similar roaming pack earlier this week and Idea Cellular launched national roaming packs few days back. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month that makes free roaming plans for all the operators compulsory. Videocon Mobile Services is the latest operator to cut 2G data rates. Videocon has reduced 2G GPRS rates by 90% across Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles. Last month Vodafone announced reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB and Airtel announced reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. Few weeks back Idea Cellular has announced new 2G data rate of 2p/10KB for their prepaid and postpaid customers. Airtel has increased its stake to 51% in the 4G broadband ventures owned by Qualcomm, raising it from 49% that was acquired by the company back in May 2012, according to a report from ET. Qualcomm won BWA Spectrum in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala circles in 2010 by paying about USD 1 billion (Rs. 4912.54 crore approx).
