Xolo has announced Xolo Win Q900s, its first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone as a result of its partnership with Microsoft earlier this year. It launched Xolo Win, its first Windows 8.1 tablet earlier this month, months after the announcement. Adobe has launched Adobe Photoshop Express for Windows Phone devices finally. This offers basic editing such as Crop, Straighten, Rotate and Flip. It also has red eye removal, automatic fixes for Brightness, Exposure and Shadows and has a range of filters. It was launched for Android and iOS few years back. Facebook has updated its beta Windows Phone app with new video uploading feature. Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 users can now upload videos to Facebook directly from their mobile. At the menu bar at the bottom of the app there are three buttons Status, Photo and Check -in. By clicking on the Photo button users can now select a video to upload to their Facebook account.

The Unicode Consortium has just updated the Unicode Standard with new emojis, characters and symbols. The latest version 7.0 will bring 250 new emoji characters to iOS, Android and Windows Phone smartphones. This is possible as Apple, Google and Microsoft are among the nine full members of the Unicode Consortium.

The company partnered with Microsoft earlier this year to launch Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones. These are powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processors and run on Windows Phone 8.1. The Canvas Win W092, an affordable Windows Phone handset has a 4-inch WVGA IPS screen, a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Indian manufacturers are known for creating value for money smartphones that offer most of what higher end smartphones offer, but all that in a much more affordable package. Xolo is one among them and it is the first company to produce an Intel chip powered smartphone. The company has fallen behind other Indian brands like Micromax and Karbonn, but is still producing budget Android smartphones.

Nokia unveiled the Lumia 630 earlier this year in single SIM and dual SIM variants. Today Nokia Lumia 636 and Lumia 638, the first smartphones with 4G TD-LTE support have been announced in China. Unlike 512MB RAM on the Lumia 630, these have 1GB of RAM. Other specifications of these smartphones are similar, including a 4.5-inch FWVGA ClearBlack IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and Windows Phone 8.1.
