Reliance Communications (RCOM) has launched new Netconnect 3G data plan called My Best Plan, that is said to offer over 90% saving per month compared to other plans available in the market. The My Best Plan would offer 1 GB 3G data for Rs. 250 per month and 2 GB of 3G data for Rs. 450 per month and 6 GB of 3G data at speeds upto 21Mbps for Rs. 1250 and unlimited usage (speed throttled to 64 Kbps) beyond 6 GB at no extra cost. Bharti Airtel has announced an agreement to acquire 49% interest in Qualcomm Asia Pacific’s (Qualcomm AP) India BWA entities. Under this Agreement, Bharti has made US$ 165 million approx investment to acquire Qualcomm AP’s India BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. Qualcomm won BWA Spectrum in these circles in 2010 by paying about USD 1 billion approx to acquire it. Idea Cellular has also reduced 3G tariffs followed by Aircel, Airtel and Vodafone. They launched 3G services in India last March and Double Data offer later that offered twice the data for select plans. Idea has reduced 3G rate up to 70% would offer on the go data rates at 3p/10 KB for pre-paid and post-paid users. Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) plans to roll out 4G network in India in partnership with Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (HFCL) according to Economic Times. Reliance Industries bought 95% stake in Infotel Broadband in June 2010 which is is the only firm to win broadband spectrum in all 22 circles in India. They have also introduced Smartbytes additional data usage packs for its postpaid Airtel mobile customers on 3G. Now the plans start at 10MB that would offer 30 minutes of 3G access valid for 1 day. Now Rs. 100 pack offers 300MB free data, Rs. 250 3G pack would offer 1GB of free data, Rs. 450 pack would offer 2GB of free data and Rs 1500 pack would offer 10GB free data that are valid for 30 days. Bharti Airtel and Axis Bank has partnered to launch banking and payment services on Airtel’s mobile platform. This service is called airtel money Super Account powered by Axis Bank that would let customers open savings account in Axis Bank that offers banking transactions including cash deposit, money transfer and withdrawal. The customers would also get savings account interest and also enabling them to make remittances. This service is aimed at remittance corridors and unbanked areas, where there is greater need of easy money transfers and savings.
