Airtel has launched, Airtel Rising Stars, a new under-16 soccer talent hunt that would choose 12 talented footballers who will get the chance-to attend a week long training camp with Manchester United in Old Trafford, England. Starting mid-July 2012, this 3-months long talent hunt will be conducted in 16 cities (including Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chandigarh and Jaipur) with the support of the respective State Football Associations. Airtel has launched ‘Behtar Zindagi’, a new IVR-based Value Added Service (VAS) for farmers and their communities across Rajasthan in partnership with VAS provider Handygo Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Vodafone has officially announced its new 3G data plans. Vodafone reduced its 3G tariffs for pre-paid customers last month, but the plans were not clear. Later they announced post-paid 3G plans that were applicable only in select circles. These new plans start from Rs. 25 for 25 MB data usage and go up to Rs. 1599 for 12 GB of data usage. MTS has reduced their existing tariff plans and has also introduced new plans for MBlaze customers in Kolkata and West Bengal circle. The new Rs. 45, Rs. 105, Rs. 490 would offer 150 MB, 300 MB and 3 GB of free data. The Rs. 45 plan comes with 7 days validity and the other plans come with 30 days validity. They have also introduced Rs. 698 plan with 4 GB of free data with 60 days validity. Other select plans would offer 3 times more data (Eg: Rs 198 that offered 200 MB free data would now offer 750 MB free data with 30 days validity. The Sony Xperia Ion that was announced at CES 2012 in January would finally be available on AT&T from 24th June. The global HSPA version of the phone was announced recently. It has 4.55-inch (1280 x 720 pixels ) HD Reality display and comes with 1.5Ghz dual-core processor. It runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and has 12MP auto focus camera with Exmor R mobile camera sensor with 1080p HD video recording and 720p HD front-facing camera. It has 4.0-inch (800×480 pixels) capacitive touch-display with a resolution of 233 PPI and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Airtel has signed a global arrangement with Opera Software to offer customized and co-branded version of Opera Mini browser for Airtel mobile customers in India. The Co-branded version of Opera Mini for Vodafone was launched last year and Idea launched it earlier this February. Opera Software has agreements with 13 out of the top 30 operators globally.
