Indian tablet market inclusive of slate and detachables ended the year 2016 with total shipments of 3.7 million units with a marginal annual drop of 3.1 percent, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The research firm attributed the shipment decline to the continuing decrease in demand for tablets. Nokia finally launched new Android smartphones at MWC 2017 in Barcelona including the Nokia 3,5 and 6 devices. We had a chance to speak to Ajey Mehta, India VP at HMD Global who shed light on the company’s India plans. HMD plans to manufacture these phones through Foxconn in India from day one. The new Nokia Android phones are expected to hit stores in India by June this year.
