OPPO A5 with 6.2-inch 19:9 FullView display, dual rear cameras, Android 8.1, 4230mAh battery launched in India for Rs. 14990

After the A3s that was launched in India recently in two version, OPPO has launched the A5 smartphone in that was introduced in China last month. It has similar specifications as the A3s, including a 6.2-inch HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio display with a notch and  87.8% screen-to-body ratio, Snapdragon 450,  ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo), 13-megapixel rear camera along with a secondary 2-megapixel camera for portrait shot and 8-megapixel front camera with AI beautify features that intelligently recognizes 296 facial features, but this has 4GB of RAM.

HOMTOM forays in India, launches H1, H3 and H5 with 18:9 display, dual rear cameras, Android 8.1 starting at Rs. 7490

Shenzhen-based HOMTOM has forayed into the Indian market with H1, H3 and H5 series of smartphones with 18:9 aspect ratio display, feature dual rear cameras, run Android 8.1 (Oreo), comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back as well as face unlock.  The company said that it has a global presence, across varied geographies like South Asia, Middle East, Russia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and North America and has opened office in Noida, India. It aims to manufacture in India in order to endorse ‘Make in India’. UIDAI mandates new facial recognition for all Aadhaar authentications

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) today has announced its plans and measures to mandate facial recognition by taking on-the-spot live pictures for every authentication that requires Aadhaar. The facial recognition will join as an additional authentication method which currently relies on fingerprints or iris (eye) scans. After teasers, Samsung has officially launched the  Galaxy A8 Star, a new mid-range smartphone in India exclusively on Amazon.in. It has a 6.28-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity display, is powered by Snapdragon 660 with 6GB of RAM, has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a secondary 24-megapixel rear camera with smart beauty, pro lighting and AR stickers. Samsung calls its Dual camera Intellicam since it adjusts itself intelligently to take images in every light condition. Samsung Galaxy J2 Core Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphone announced in India

Samsung has introduced Galaxy J2 Core (SM-J260), the company’s first Android Oreo (Go edition) smartphone. It comes with 5-inches qHD TFT display, is powered by the Samsung’s own Exynos 7570 Quad-Core 14nm processor with 1GB of RAM. It packs a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera. Since it is a budget phone, it doesn’t come with Fingerprint sensor or Face Unlock. RCOM completes sale of wireless infrastructure assets worth Rs. 2000 crore to Reliance Jio

Back in December Reliance Jio  announced signing of definitive agreement for the acquisition of specified assets of Reliance Communications (RCOM) and its affiliates that includes Wireless Spectrum, Tower, Fiber and Media Convergence Node (MCN) assets as a part of RCOM’s debt reduction. Today RCOM has announced that the completion of the sale of its Media Convergence Nodes (MCNs) and related infrastructure assets, worth Rs 2,000 crore, to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIO). Realme 2 with 6.2-inch notch display, dual rear cameras, 4230mAh battery launching in India on August 28 [Update: Snapdragon SoC]

Update – August 23: Qualcomm India has confirmed that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon Mobile Platform. The Realme 1 was powered by  MediaTek Helio P60 SoC. Realme also confirmed that the phone will feature a 6.2-inch display with 88.8% screen-to-body ratio, compared to 6-inch display with 75.7% screen-to-body ratio on the Realme 1. Based on Flipkart’s teasers the phone will be exclusively available with them. The Realme 1 was launched exclusively on Amazon.in.

Flipkart launches 2GUD e-commerce portal for refurbished goods

Now after closing it down for good, Flipkart launched a brand new platform to sell refurbished products; the platform is named 2GUD. It is more or less like any other e-commerce site selling electronic items but contains only certified refurbished products at low prices.
